Jamaica is not the U.S.A. Its not as easy to win such a case and winning can cost a ton in legal fees.

Check to see if the hotel is a U.S. registered business or has U.S. branches. Most of the larger hotels are. Legally you could sue them in US courts with a US attourney.

If you have to sue in Jamaican courts, be prepared to spend US$40k and upwards, over several YEARS. There is no guarantee that you will win the case.

Mr Honeywell on the following link is stated to deal with personal injuries cases. http://www.discoverjamaica.com/law4.html

I get the impression that this is not a very popular area of law in Jamaica.

Please take advice on whether it is better to sue in the USA than locally. It might well be that a local attorney could instruct someone in the USA to act on behalf of his firm.

With personal injury cases it is a good idea to wait to see the full outcome of the injuries. They may be more serious than you think (but I do hope not).

All the best for a rapid recovery.
