How can we find a reasonable deal for a small, private wedding in Maui?
My fiancée and I have scheduled a trip to Maui this February and we are looking to be married while we are there. We are hoping if we provide a few details about what we would like, someone will be able to personally recommend someone.
Here are the details:
- Private ceremony for the two adults, plus 7-year old son
- Scenic background for photos, preferably a cliff or waterfall (but close to beach for some beach shots, too!)
- Floral leis (2 adult, 1 child)
- Assistance obtaining a marriage license
- Officiant to perform ceremony – spiritual, but non-denominational
- Photographer for 1-1.5 hours, and photos provided on CD
That’s really it – very simple, short, and sweet – but scenic, private and plenty of nice pictures. Some resorts are charging $1000 without pictures - for basically a pair of floral leis and a ten minute ceremony. We know there are much more reasonable options. Can anyone help?

You really need to check out the Old Lahaina Luau in Maui. I was married there in February 2006 and was extremely happy with it. It is a private location which is beautiful in pictures. The ocean borders the wedding site, so you can get the beach shots you are looking for. The coordinator will help you arrange all of the other services you need, including photography and marriage license. Another wonderful part about the wedding was the Luau that is held after your wedding, a great reception for you and your family! The prices are much more reasonable that what the major resorts charge.
Again, I highly recommend you check out their wedding services. If I had my wedding to do all over again, I would do it the exact same way.

Have fun and congratulations!

I got married in Oahu. If the prices are that high in Maui, you could just (they have boats or even a plane to take you over)go over to Oahu and get a wedding much cheaper.
Here's who we went through. I called place after place and this was the cheapest person I could find. I actually thought there would be a catch or something wouldn't be right but everything was great.

They are a married couple (Penny and Wayne). He is a Reverend so that takes care of the officiant to perform the ceremony.
We went with the Ocean Park location

but they have 11 locations to pick from. So this takes care of you private ceremony location. And you can pick what location so you can get the cliff or waterfall or beach.
I showed up and they had a fresh flower bouqet but you can choose leis instead.
And Wayne is the photographer so he is with you for that period of time. And he did put our pics on a CD, plus gave us a few extra pics for no extra cost.
And to top it off, we got a limo to and from the location. They will answer any questions you have about getting the marriage license too. Either through email or phone, they always return your questions.
Their prices start at $95 and goes to $3,495, but you pick which package you want and there is no hidden charges.

So if you can't find these prices in Maui, take the extra money you will save by going with these two and grab a ride over to Oahu.
Have fun and congrats!!~~~~~~~~~~~~~

If you google "wedding consultant Maui" you will get a lot of hits. I am confident that you will be able to find someone who can help you plan the perfect wedding for your needs at a price more reasonable than what you were quoted by the hotels.
