Sea-Monkeys (sometimes Sea Monkeys) is a brand name of a variant (known as Artemia salina nyos or Artemia nyos) of Artemia salina, a species of brine shrimp, a type of fairy shrimp – not true shrimp, but a branchiopod. The term "Sea-Monkeys" is a trademark used to sell them as a novelty pet, often advertised in comic books. Brine shrimp originate in salt lakes and evaporation flats.

Sea-Monkeys can reproduce both sexually (requiring a male and a female) and asexually. When the eggs are produced, there are fewer males than females, probably because they are not essential for reproduction. Females stop reproducing with the males when the males are too few.

Sea-Monkeys have been cited in studies of DNA and sexual behavior, primarily because they are commonly available specimens.

They can be purchased at this site

Never heard of "sea monkeys" but always wanted a "sea horse". They were always advertised in the American comics I read as a kid. Still think they are an amazing thing lol.

They are brine shrimp they ae considered zooplankton and their natural habitat is the ocean. I think they still do sell them at some toy stores I used to love them too. Have a wonderful day.

They're a species of Brine Shrimp, which is able to go into suspended animation inside of their eggs, which expands their life span. Best bet is to look online for them. Ebay, maybe?

They're brine shrimp. Ignore the "nyos" designation; that came out of some marketer's imagination.

Edit: I enjoyed having them as pets, some years back.

I've seen them at Toys R Us, and you can check EBay for them too.

They're brine shrimp and you can find them in the toy section at wal-mart. I almost got them for my son for Christmas.
