Is anyone rooting for the Patriots win to shut up the '72 Dolphins?

I am a Giants fan, but I'm also realistic. I don't think my team is going to beat the Patriots. I want my G-Men to win, but there is a little part of me that wants New England to win so the Grumpy Old members of the '72 Dolphins can shut up and take the cork out of their champagne bottles and put them in their mouths.

For those of you who don't understand, the '72 Dolphins, the last undefeated team, celebrate when an undefeated team loses well into the season. They say it's in honor of their team, but I think they've become very mean-spirited.

Update:

Third-Thanks for the advice, but as I said, I want my Giants to win. But a SMALL part of me wants the Patriots to win. I will be rooting for my team, BUT if they lose, I will have the satisfaction of not having to listen to the '72 Dolphins again. I am a faithful Giants fan, from the late '70s to now, and I paid for it as a kid.

Really, the only guy that annoys me is Shula. Those other guys don't seem to take it so seriously, and not so full of themselves. So yes, it would be nice to see Shula put a cork in it for once. But, as a fellow Giants fan, I can never root against them.

I think the Patriots will win too. I don't like the Patriots but I think their win will shut up the 1972 Dolphins and I'm glad of that. I think it;s obnoxious for them to celebrate losses by other teams. The fact that they went undefeated does not make the 1972 Dolphins the greatest team ever. Practically all of the Dolphins opponents in 1972 had sub-.500 records. The 1985 Bears were a far better team than the 1972 Dolphins even though the Bears had one loss.

the 72 dolphins only played two teams with winning records, and they were 8-6

Yes but in order to shut up the '72 'phins they Pats need to win the Super Bowl.

NO!!! I'm rooting for the Giants to shut up the '07 Patriots.

If you think the '72 Dolphins are bad then imagine the arrogant, self-important, Patriots*** They would be far more unbearable than the Dolphins ever have been!!

You always have to be careful what you wish for!

Well, I'd like my Pats to win, period. But I also would like them to beat the Dolphins record just for the history of it. If it shuts up cranky geezers, that's just the cherry on the sundae!

not me but I know my dad is, he hates Shula and the '72 Dolphins I wasnt really around in 72 so I dont care and I hope the Patriots lose

as a mean spirited patriot fan, why do you hate the dolphins of 72? is it because they are the first to successfully go undefeated in an nfl season.

why can't patriot fans just be happy for their team? why does everyone else (including past teams) have to drop in status? why can't you patriot fans just be a little happy that the league didn't let the punishment fit the crime in spygate...and be happy that the league performance enhancing drug policy only calls for a 4 game ban...and that hgh isn't detectable currently.... why can't you fans just be? there is no need to drag everyone out of retirement to fall at the altar of belichick. we get that you and your mean spirited counterparts drank the kool aid....great for you, now just shut up.

    heyyyyyyyy

That's a big deal and they want to stay the last undefeated team cuz that means they're the bessssssssst.

And I don't really like the patriots.

    So no.

Be more faithful to your giants.
