I am a Human Service professional, working with children, adolescents, and even older adults as they face the many challenges presented to them. I find helping others to be a very challenging, yet rewarding career. I am also a huge baseball fan, of not only my favorite New York Yankees, but of baseball in general. I love a good debate, but the "Jeter is overrated" rants do get old. BTW, he is a future Hall of Famer and quite possibly the best shortstop of all time. I don't want to hear Honus Wagner. The guy played over 100 years ago, and none of you ever saw him play anyway. If you send an e-mail response to one of my answers, or argue with me, I will respond. However, if you want to argue, at least have the courtesy to answer back when I respond, don't "hit-and-run". I will ignore you if you send an obscenity-laced e-mail though. People who write e-mails full of obscenities aren't worth my time.
Question about Joe Mauer as an MVP candidate. Should he be?
The guy is the best player in the American League this season, but he's stuck on a team that probably won't make the playoffs. This writer from Minnesota is whining that Mauer is underrated and won't win the MVP because he doesn't play in New York or Boston. Apparently he forgot that Justin Morneau beat out Derek Jeter in 2006. Also, the Yankees never had an MVP candidate when they were winning in the '90s, so playing in New York or Boston has little to do with it. I think that this writer, Charley Waters, is a crybaby Twins homer, who is seeing only what he wants to see. Does anyone agree with him? Or does playing on team not doing well hurt Mauer's chances? I think players on teams in the playoff hunt should win the MVP.

Two measley hits, one a "home run" by Ramirez that should have been caught by Abreu, and a cheap bunt single in the 9th by Coco Crisp. I think he's taken it to another level with his 4-seam fastball and changeup. He is easily on his way to 20 wins.

I am a Giants fan, but I'm also realistic. I don't think my team is going to beat the Patriots. I want my G-Men to win, but there is a little part of me that wants New England to win so the Grumpy Old members of the '72 Dolphins can shut up and take the cork out of their champagne bottles and put them in their mouths.
For those of you who don't understand, the '72 Dolphins, the last undefeated team, celebrate when an undefeated team loses well into the season. They say it's in honor of their team, but I think they've become very mean-spirited.
