why do pro's keep insisting that illegals do the jobs that americans won't do?

i have one of those jobs.

i am a landscaper and i have a business that employs about 35 people.

before i reaced a point where i was able to hire people to work for me i started out mowing lawns working in other peoples back yards with little more than a lawn mower and some hand tools.

so i am so tired of hearing that they are doing the jobs that we won't do...because we do!!!

we just want a livable wage...thats all!!

can't you pro's come up with a new argument?? preferably one that is true.

Update:

and before anyone asks...i pay my people well over the min. wage.

My first real job at age 13 was picking cotton in Arizona.

I did that when I wasn't tilling, running the discs, or ducking drunk crop dusters. The argument the "Pros" put forth is strawman by it's nature. Think about it like this: No illegals=Jobs for legal agricultural immigrants as well as our teenagers that live in rural areas.

No Illegals means a raise in hourly wage for those that do those jobs legally.

The offset=Social Services are no longer overwhelmed, and our hospitals remain open while at the same time our taxes go down.

    Win/Win

The illegal workers and those who employ them are actually bringing down the wages of all workers. If there were no illegal workforce, employers would be forced to pay a higher wage. Many construction jobs which typically pay much higher than minimum wage are being taken by illegals. Their employers place lower bids on projects and companies who refuse to hire illegals cannot compete so some legal workers lose their jobs.

There is also a pending OSHA regulation requiring general contractors to have a spanish translator on site. This is a crock. It is well beyond the time when our legislators need to act in OUR best interests by making ENGLISH the official (not just de facto) language of our country as well a heavily penalizing employers who hire illegals.

It's not that "American" won't do the work, just not that job for the wages being paid. The illegals are also not paying taxes which makes their earnings artificially higher than that of legal workers.

Mexico does not want to see any change in current US policy since approximately 10% of their economy is based on U.S. dollars flowing across the border from illegal workers.

Here are some jobs the illegal aliens won't do!

    Army

    Navy

    Airforce

    Marines

They do march on our streets and chant "Honkies go back to Europe" is that a job?

Illegal aliens can make more than $9.00 an hour just having their old lady on welfare and public housing. While the American Male pays for medical and education for their children. Hope everyone enjoys paying for Child Support for children of a foreign country here illegally.

Illegal alien women can lay on their backs and pop out 12 kids and make more money than the average American. Then we Americans have to pay for each useless anchor baby for the next 18 years!!!!

They do this because it is a terrible answer to a question nobody understands.

It's also a great excuse to let them in, but not by me.

I am in the same boat as you. I can't hire enough people to get the work done, and I have NO illegals working for me.

And I pay $9+ per hour.

    Preach it brotha....

I am doing one of those jobs that "Americans" won't do as well...

I have 5 full time employees, and their average income is over 50k per year.

Not one of the arguments that the pro's use is beneficial to this country. Not one argument that the pro's use is based on fairness, equality, or honesty.

you are living proof that we do NOT need illegal criminals and that the pro's argument "they do the jobs americans wont do" is nothing but garbage(and its getting old). and hon, good on you, be proud of yourself you are a true american, you stand for who you are! i am proud of you and any other true American employer who relies on no illegal labor. may you be the role model for more employers out there (who many have been traitors and have managed to get away with it for many years)!

I agree. I own an organic farm. I avoid illegals like the plague. Some of the other farms hire them and have learned they are a terrible investment. They do a terrible job and aren't reliable. Harvesting equipment is the way to go. (Loving my new lettuce harvester.)

As an employer of illegal aliens, I will say that Americans do inferior quality work than illegals. When I was first hired on as a manager, we had an all-American staff. These people often talk on their cellphone when the supervisor wasn't looking. They were constantly walking away from their work stations to look at the clock to see if its break time, lunch time, or quitting time. We paid these people enough for them to easily afford an apartment without having to take in a room mate to help with the rent. When I learned my competitors were charging less, and using illegals, that's when I realized we were losing business to our competitors because he had lower labor cost. So I got rid of every American on the floor. If they were 1 minute late (tardiness), raised their voice (insubordination), or made mistakes on the assembly line (failure to follow instructions), they were fired immediately. Today, the illegals I've got are so dedicated to their work, we have to constantly tap them on the shoulder to remind them to take their break, lunch break, or that its quitting time. We've boosted productivity 25% and cut labor cost 20%. Americans may be willing to do the job, but at what cost ?? Besides, the federal government had passed a law making it legal to hire undocumented immigrants.

The Feds passed the Immigration Reform Control Act of 1986 to supposedly stop the practice of hiring illegals. The law was just the opposite; it contained loopholes to give employers immunity from criminal prosecution for hiring illegals. Job applicants are required to furnish documents to prove their right to work in the US; but it DID NOT require employers to verify / authenticate these. This means FAKE social security cards, FAKE birth certificates, and FAKE identification cards are allowable forms of documents. So long as employers have these on file, they CAN NOT be prosecuted for hiring illegals.
