Wrestling Fans: Who's your favorite and less favorite commentator of all time?
My favorite wrestling commentator is Joey styles from ECW because he is funny especially when he scouts" OH MY GOOOOOOOOD. That cracks me up. My less favorite commentator is JBL. I can stand JBL. I hate it when he disrespects Micheal Cole, interferes in matches especially during chris jericho's title match" against Randy Orton. A commentator should not do that. JBL sounds so boring as commentator. I am glad he is not wwe smackdown's commentator anymore. ECW is extremely boring to watch now.

Strictly play-by-play commentator, my favorite is Gordon Solie, followed closely by Jim Ross (obviously a fan of Solie, too).
My favorite color commentator, and my favorite of all-time, is Bobby Heenan, the only one funnier than Jerry Lawler. Heenan would have made a great stand-up comedian.
My least favorite is JBL. He's an overblown blowhard from the Jesse Ventura school of wrestling commentary; he just ain't nowhere near as good as Jesse was. While sometimes "old school" is good, JBL's "old school" style of commentating is not. Cheering for every heel and lambasting every face; the only one in the building who "doesn't see" the heels cheating; insulting the "face" commentator -- that stuff went out twenty years ago; get with the times, man! The fancy words he uses (sometimes incorrectly), designed to make him seem more intelligent than everybody else, the endless analogies comparing wrestlers to other "celebrities", the constant self-promotion, all of this stuff is just annoying.
Jeez, I thought Michael Cole was bad! Well...he is, but I'd take two Coles over one JBL any day. Hell, I'd take two David Crocketts over one JBL any day, too! Uh, for those of you who don't know who David Crockett is...be thankful.

Bobby Heenan and Gorilla Monsoon back on USA. Next would be Jesse Ventura and Gorilla Monsoon. The funniest moment was with Bobby H and Dusty Rhodes with Mike Tenay at the Great Western Stamped back in 97. The match was Public Enemy against Harlem Heat in a street fight. Dusty got so drunk trying to call the match that Heenan broke out of character and laughed for 10 minutes straight without stopping.

In recent history:
My favorite commentators are (were) Vince McMahon & Jim Ross (WWF/E), Eric Bischoff & Mike Tenay (original WCW), and Joey Styles (original ECW) because I believe that they are (were) the most knowledgeable about the wrestling business and also the most articulate commentators in the business.
My least favorite commentators are (were) definitely JBL (WWE) and Steve McMichael (original WCW) because they, quite simply sucked as wrestlers and so they had to become commentators, but they also suck(ed) at that too!

Best:
Jerry Lawler has to be the best and funniest and "puppy" addicted commentator EVER. If you can think of someone better I will change my mind but now the best is The King
Worst:
JBL is the most boring superstar and most boring commentator ever. He likes boring superstars like MVP and Finlay.
About ECW
Do you even know what ECW stands for? its not Extreme Championship Wrestling. it stands for ECW's Commentators Wreak. Except when Tazz Rags on that other dude

My Favorite Commentator is Jim Ross cuz he is so funny with OH IT'S A SLOBBERKNOCKER lol. My least favorite is probably Micheal Cole or Joey Styles. Something about them I just don't like. Micheal Cole just acts gay for some reason to me and Joey Styles I just don't like.

Bobby Heenan was THE BEST commentator ever! Not only did he call the match great, but he added such great comedy to it as well. "The Brain" and Gorilla Monsoon made up a great duo, which obviously paved the way for guys like JR and The King.
The worst commentator. IMO, is Mike Tennay. I can't stand the way he calls matches. It's seems too overscripted when you listen to him.

Best Face Commentator: Jim Ross AKA J.R
- He gives out his full comment on everything that is happening in the ring. You can clearly see his passion when listening to him commentating on WM matches. Each and every one of them.
Best Heel Commentator: Jerry "King" Lawler
- I know he's a face commentator now but back in 1997-2001 you won't get enough HATING THE GUY so much. He like every heel in the ring. Also its funny when he's commentating on his son's matches, The Grandmaster Sexay... he's rooting for his son even though he's face...

My favorite commentator duo was way back when Vince Mcmahon and Jessie Ventura called the matches on WWF Saturday Night's Main Event.
Mcmahon was the baby, Ventura the heel.
I haven't heard any I liked since.

My fave would be Michael Cole. It's very comical as much as he gets ragged on. And every once in awhile he even comes up with a snappy comeback.
My least fave would have to be JBL. Like you mentioned- the cheap shots in matches no involving him. Then there's his interviews- "I'd fight but my contract says i can't beat up the superstars."--------wtf?
