New reel, now what rod?
My mother got me a wonderful little Pinnacle Inertia Finese Baitcast reel for Christmas. I have always used spinning reels and I've always wanted to expand my collection as all fishermen do. But I've never had to pair up a reel like this. I usually fish with light and ultra light tackle. I'm looking for some ideas on what rod to match this reel up with. I'm thinking of a Guide Series titanium pro graphite rod 6'6" fast action med/heavy weight. Or I looked at a 7" shimano with the bare blank in the handle. I'm looking for some other options. I dont want the action so fast that I rip the hooks out, but I want to be able to cast tightly. Suggestions are welcomed, Thanks
As a side note....Although I'm looking at different rods, including all-star, for this new reel, along with my 2 st. croix's my other 4 spinning rods are all ugly stick pros, i really do love them rods too, but just not for this occasion.

Finally someone else who agrees with me about ugly sticks! they are garbage! kudos, Shane!
As for the rod... go get a Shimano, you will not be disappointed! They have the most sensitive rods for the money, a bunch of different actions and tapers and a great warranty. $60 for the IM-7 Clarus series, $90-100 for the IM8 Compre series, $120 for the IM9 Crucial.

For some reason when I saw this question, I KNEW somebody would say to buy an Ugly Stick!! Sure enough, the first answer on here says to buy an Ugly Stick!
If you would get a nice reel, why would you settle for a piece of CRAP??!!??
You can have a nice rod for $80 to $100. Look at Bass Pro, Acedamy Sports or Cabelas, whatever store is near you. Look for a Falcon Rod, All-Star, etc. You mentioned a Shimano Rod, Shimano makes a good rod, some lower end rods are around $90, but still much better than an Ugly Stick.
PLEASE, STAY AWAY FROM UGLY STICKS!!!!!
Why would someone even suggest that?

I was going to say All-Star or Falcon but Shane beat me to it. He is right about the Ugly Stick. Only a moron would make a suggestion you get one. That reel is too nice to put on a POS rod. A rod in a 6 foot length will help make accurate casts a breeze.
