Why did some of you quit world of warcraft?
I was looking for some answers from previous WoW players about why they quit. The reason I quit world of warcraft was the people. Too many arrogant assholes only caring about themselves and what they want. Too many whining little kids as well. If you make one mistake in a group/raid, you get yelled at or kicked because you aren't good enough for them. Its like high school. Theres too much drama as well. Ninja looters for example. If you ninja loot something your reputation is completly ruined. Little bitches will go on the fourms and post crap about you so they feel better about themselves because they only care about themselves. It's never happened to me but a few of my friends. You can never ask for help either from more experienced players. I even caught myself doing it because I was around it so long. If you ask for help, or gold, or something, you get labled as a "begger". Guilds as well. The entire end game process requires a guild, or you are destined to fail; biggest assholes.

I quit for a short time, because I didn't want it as a distraction during finals at college. I knew, I would be spending a lot of time studying, and I didn't want to be paying for something that I didn't get to play.
As for all that you are saying, I don't agree. I have never had trouble finding people to help. You just have to be respectful of others and treat them as if they are other people -- because they are other people playing a game. Yes, if you ninja loot (ie steal) from others, they will tell others about what you have done, so they know to watch out for you. As for grouping, if people threw you out whenever you made the slightest mistake, no one would ever get a group.
As for guilds, I have tried it without a guild, and it is a little more difficult, as WoW is built around the idea that people are going to work together. However, it isn't that much more difficult, again, as long as you are respectful to others and treat them like human beings. I have worked with a large guild and several sizes below that, and I find they all have strengths and weaknesses of their own -- just like working solo does.
The long and the short of things is this. It is a game that is played with other people. Just like if you went to someone's house to play a game with a group of people, you are going to have some success and failure based off how well or how poorly you treat the people playing around you.

I quit playing WoW because people are overly obsessed with it. I do not want to sit at my computer all day, because seriously...your not any cooler for having a lvl 60 guy in WoW when your a low life who doesn't do anything in life but play WoW. LOL Not to mention that people take the game way too seriously. I mean, it's a computer game and not life or death. Lastly, people are arrogant and again think they are soooo cool for having a high lvl character or cool gear, but so what? Plus you have to consider the fact that when you do get the highest lvl character, all there is to do after a while is make a new character and start all the way back over doing the same crap. Seriously, who has the time to waste waste their life playing WoW, and why don't people want to find something fun to do in real life, and play WoW for fun? People turn WoW into their life. It's crazy. So that's why I quit, I could never be like that and never wanted to be like that. Those people are crazy.

Ok, so I still play WoW and I have a few things to say. Yes, there are people who take the game too seriously and whine and call people names. That is what the IGNORE option is for. I don't bother with the forums unless I have a tech support questions or something like that. WoW is just a game and I have no reason to allow it to consume my entire life like that.
You CAN politely ask for help from a higher level player. I have a 70 and help people quite often. It does get annoying when every single time I log on, the same person is messaging me asking for help with something. That is a ticket straight to my ignore list. I do not like people asking for gold because I had to work for mine, so why can't they work for theirs? I would be glad to offer suggestions for good ways to make money (IE: tradeskill things that sell well, and where to farm mats, etc) but I will not just give away money. I mean, crapola, I still need 4000gold to get my epic flying mount training and I have to work for every copper of that and I appreciate my new items more when I get them because of that.
As far as end game, you don't need an end game guild. I run a guild with my boyfriend. We only have about 4 70's in the whole guild. It's just a bunch of people who like to chat while playing wow and have other people available to help them out when they need it. What you do need to do is group with lots of people. Make a few friends that you group with frequently. You will begin to build a reputation and your friends list will start to grow. I personally keep my friends list in game where I have all the people I like to group with and then I have a sheet of paper next to the computer with the list of people NOT to group with. I have a couple friends who are in guilds like mine and we are co-ordinating to get all the 70's from each guild together to run things like Kara and such.
Source(s): just my experiences. and no, wow isn't my life. There's the kid, work, the significant other, sewing, drumming, and of course, Yahoo Answers (which has as much drama and whiney-ness as WoW does...lol) - Anonymous1 decade ago
I quit wow because every time i played wow i got yelled at for making a mistake in a group. wed argue over looting and crap... plus it gets addictive and for those who pay for it it gets kinda expensive plus its hard to find enough time to be seriously commited to wow

Omg yes! Your reasons were mine as well. It was also the same in Final Fantasy XI. Both games are the reason I hate online gaming. I am so happy to see someone quitting for the reasons I did. You get nowhere in online games unless you know the people in real life, that was my problem. No one would ever help me and when they did, they would expect me to help them no matter what I was currently doing. And when I couldn't I would get attacked verbally. Online games stink.

LOL that pretty much sums up why I left. I get tired of getting Ninja'd. I have been on several servers and both horde and alliance side and it doesn't seem to make much of a difference.
