  • Looking for birthday gift ideas for a 5 year old boy?

He's getting a season pass to the local zoo but we need some smaller gifts to go with it. I'd like to stick to the theme of stuff having to do with the zoo or trips to the zoo. He already has tons of stuffed animals and other animal toys so please don't suggest them. He also already has a camera and a wagon. The only thing I've thought of so far is a book about animals. Suggestions?

  • How did I do?

After seeing everyone posting about polyvore, I decided to try my hand at it. Can you guys give me some feedback on the outfit I put together? Go easy on me, I've never done this before, but it gave me something to do while I was bored at work. Constructive criticism will be greatly appreciated. :)

  • Why is my eucalyptus plant dried out?

I started some eucalyptus seeds in a very small terrarium a few months ago. The plants were growing well and barely fit in the terrarium anymore, so I transplanted them to a pot. I made sure to take a bunch of dirt from the terrarium with it so I would minimize the disruption to the roots. I dug a small hole and put the plant in. Then I soaked the dirt in the pot until a bit of water came out the bottom of the pot and put it up on the window sill to get some sunlight.

Here it is a few days later and the plant looks really dried and shriveled. Did I kill it? I soaked the dirt again today and put it in a different window thinking maybe it wasn't getting enough light. Any advice or did I kill the poor thing?

  • How do I handle this situation without hurting anyone's feelings?

Back in late September 2007, I volunteered to help organize an event that would be held in July 2008. I was to find merchants to sell things at the event. The main organizer told me she would get me the information I needed so I could get started. I was also told to join a message board so all those planning could communicate. I joined that board as well as 2 others that the planning usually frequented. Now, I have not received a single piece of information and have not seen a single message on any of the three boards in regards to planning. Ok, so fast forward to today, it's the END of February. I still have not received any information needed for recruiting merchants. Apparently, someone set up the website and it says for people interested in merchanting to contact me (name spelled wrong) with no contact information. Aside from that, if someone could actually track me down, I would look like a fool because I have no idea what they should even be told.

  • A question about pre-employment testing for dispatcher positions?

I'm looking at applying for a job as a police dispatcher. I was told that the pre-employment screenings include a psychological evaluation and a polygraph test. I'm just wondering what kinds of things they are looking for with these kinds of tests. What kinds of things do they ask about?

  • When a potential employer requests a bio, what are they looking for?

I was considering applying for a position and was told to submit a resume and biography. I have never heard of a place requesting a bio before. What sorts of things do they want to know? I can't imagine they would care about where I grew up and those sorts of things. Is it just a work history or what? (This is just a clerk position)
