When people spell words incorrectly...?
This is not a dig at anyone but a curious question. When writing questions, or anything for that matter, some people use the wrong 'there' or their', 'know' or 'no' etc. I understand sometimes it is a genuine mistake that happens when typing too fast without concentrating but what I would like to know is, do some people think it doesn't matter or do people actually have a problem with it? I have heard that in the UK (where I am from) some schools are allowing 'text talk' in exams, for example using u instead of you. I think that if people really don't know which word to use the surely the schools should be doing more to teach them? My question is, do you have a problem knowing which word is which, or is it something that doesn't bother you? Please don't take this as a personal attack as we all make mistakes sometimes! Thank you.

For some reason, that I can remember such as "if 2 vowels go walking the first one does the talking " ie heard its the e you hear first so it is pronounced first . But with words such as what you gave examples for, it is probably how we were taught that enables us to remember or not, plus the potential of a learning disability as well. In North America the schools in the eighties started teaching "Whole language" and bottom line it was to encourage kids to write the words as they sounded however the teachers were reluctant in correcting mistakes, now we have a generation of people who cannot spell worth spit.
