What kind of high paying job can I get without a degree?

I didn't finish highschool, and I'm a full time parent, but my son is starting school in the fall and I want to work. Are there any jobs that will hire a person without a degree, not including customer service jobs. I do not want to work at a store or restaurant.

Please do not say stripper...

You can work as a receptionist.

They make pretty good money and don't require a whole lot of education.

As you well know, your options are limited. Not having a high school diploma (this isn't even considered a degree) puts you at an enormous disadvantage - even for obtaining customer service jobs.

Indeed, a High School diploma is not sufficient to be truly competitive these days without some type of additional experience or training. Even careers for colllege educated professionals are now being outsourced.

If I were you I'd make the effort to get a G.E.D so you can at least present yourself as having finished a 'high school' curriculum and then get some specialized training perhaps in hair care or as a licensed practical nurse.

All this said, there are individuals who through luck or innate talent - or both - pull it off and make themselves into multibillionaires.

    Don't buy lottery tickets!!!!!

Good luck - I truly wish I had a more hopeful outlook to offer.

The only thing I think of that would possibly be "high paying" is starting your own business. I mean if you don't want to do customer service, retail, or wait tables that excludes a lot. You can't even get a job as floor tech. in a hospital without a GED. Why not wok on getting your High School Diploma or GED from a community college before you start working? That will open up a lot of possibilities.

Also, most places will require High School, if not more training, to be a receptionist.

Anyone self-employed has more control over their income and the hours they work. I suggest you go down that route.

Even if you run your own cleaning business (or something similar) which doesn't require alot of training but has high income potential if you market yourself right.

Go and visit your local business enterprise office for more advice. You might even be able to get a grant to start-up.

Many sales positions can lead to high earnings, particularly the sale of new cars, which might offer you the flexible schedule that it sounds like you might need.
