Do you think I am I in the right or wrong?
I purchased formula checks from ebay. When I went to use them, the store informed me that they are photocopies of a check and can not use them. They took them all and told me they would be contacting the company the checks are for. I informed them that I got them off ebay and they said they would inform the company about it also.
I am now fighting w/ the seller for a refund. He claims I should return them before he even thinks of giving me a refund. However I no longer have the checks b/c the store kept them. He claims it does not work that way and I do not deserve a refund.
Do you think I am in the wrong for wanting a refund? They are going to contact the company to inform them that someone is selling checks like this and I might get in trouble.
I opened a dispute w/ paypal in hope to get my money back but I dont know how that is going to work out.
eta: i wanted to get some being that my son goes through a 24 oz can in 4 days. since the price just went up from $22 to $25 a can, i was looking for any help i could get.
eta: they are not " internet coupons". they are normal enfamil coupons one would get say in the mail from the company.
the dispute was closed w/ paypal as the guy refunded the money.

You are not in the wrong at all. It's very possible the seller sent you fakes. eBay scams happen all the time. Just make sure you keep track of e-mails you've sent back and forth, along with the auction number and any information at all. If you know where you got them, you won't be the one getting in trouble for this. You just wanted something and someone provided you a fake. How were you supposed to know?

1. Leave them negative feedback. Wear the retaliatory neg with pride.
Say something like:
"Store said coupons were photocopied and confiscated them; seller won't refund."
2. File a SNAD complaint with eBay/Paypal, but realize that their policies will tell you to mail the coupons back to the seller, since you can't, they probably won't intervene further.
3. Stop buying coupons on eBay. More and more stores are now refusing "internet coupons" or any coupon that looks suspicious. Most coupons say void if sold, so they can refuse them as soon as you say, "I got them on eBay." (Even eBay points out that the seller can't claim he didn't sell them because he charged you money for them; there's no legal way to "pay for his time.")

Wow!! That is terrible. I have sold formula coupons on there a lot .. but I would never dream that I would make copies! That is BAD!!
I think you will get your money back through PayPal. Basicaly he has to PROVE that they are not copies and how is he going to do that? Paypal always sides with the buyer not the seller. TRUST me I got conned out of $350 from someone who got a Wii from me and they picked it up at the house so I had no tracking info. Then he said he never got it!!! Paypal took the money back from me becuase I could not prove that he had the Wii! THANKFULLY my local police station ROCKS and they got the money back for me from that low life!! In this case ... you deserve that refund! Fight for it!

I would try to contact someone on e-bay to let them know about this person selling these checks. Maybe they could help. And seriously who in their right mind would buy checks for formula off of ebay?

I believe you will get a partial refund minus fees if the person has money in there account if they don't you may not get back anything since you lied to you, you are entitled to what ever you can get back.

I agree with all answers. I would also notify Trans Union Fraud Dept @ 1-800-680-7289 and have it put on Fraud Alert. It's better to be safe than sorry later.
