Well you can check out the prices yourself, cos it depends on what Channels you want.
I have Virgin, but I find it really unreliable. The disadvantages of Virign are:
1) It doesnt have Channel Sky One, ie no Prison Break ...
2) Sometimes it doesn't work
Advantages:
1) Catch up TV on demand service:
basically this a free service that lets u watch a few selected BBC and Channel 4 programmes in the last 7 days. Its useful cos you can catch up on EastEnders.. any time, and its free. But you cant record things - you can only choose what Virgin media records/is available
2) Service
I've heard you have to buy a sky box, so if it stops working then its YOUR responsibility - ie you need to pay to repair. Virgin media repairs it for FREE, cos u dont have to buy the box - they "lend" it to you.
Hope that helped

Sky - Give Virgin a wide berth.
I was Telewest which was taken over by Virgin. As Telewest they were fine, since Virgin took over I've had nothing but trouble, constantly reporting faults.
When I looked at some of the Sky deals about I was amazed. I have the same company for unlimited broadband, free offpeak phone calls and two TV packages. With Sky I'm paying less than HALF what I paid with Virgin and I've got twice the number of channels. And the sound and picture quality is much better. I got a free Sky + box which lets you record programmes and my son also got one for recommending me. You've got to connect to BT, but in some cases, Sky will pay for that too, up to a certain limit.

Hi there Having worked for NTL I would have to say sky. Especially now they are doing phone, TV and broadband for 26 quid. I think Virgin Media has a long way to go before it establishes itself as a serious competitor to sky. Trust me i don't like the Big fat cat companies but at present sky has the best packages and the best deals. I'm a big fan of Mr Branson and would recommend his airlines any day of the week he just needs to turn NTL around which in time I'm sure he will. Oh and NTL's customer service is crap and i should know ;) Regards idai

I have had sky for years, never had any problems. You can get more channels on sky than virgin.

It depends mainly on what you want to watch. Although a lot of channels are available on either, some are only available on one or the other. Check out the packages and compare the prices.
You've also got to decide whether you line the pockets of the grinning bearded knight who got a fraud conviction in his youth, or the American (ex-Australian) megalomaniac who thinks he can control the minds of the UK by showing them pictures of young girls with no vests on.

iF U JOIN VIRGIN MEDIA U GET FREE CHANNELS WITHOUT SUBSCIBING. IF U JOIN SKY+ OR SKY HD U CAN RECORD TV SHOWS UNLIKE VIRGIN MEDIA WHERE U CAN ONLY WATCH POPULAR SHOWS ON DEMAND.

i'd say probably sky, we are on virgin, when it works its ok, but its really annoying to have to reboot the box on a daily basis. want to change , will probably do this in the new year
