compression test: what dose this mean?

i just did a compression test all cyl 170 psi but the thing is after i stoped cranking the engine the gauge fell. dose this mean anything? or is it my guage that is doing this?

    it's the gauge, 170 on all cylinders is good

    Faulty gage.

    Most compression gages have a release valve on them and it sounds like yours is stuck open.

    170 is verry good compression for a car.

    the engine is fine.the guage should hold the pressure. the valve in the guage is probally stuck or broken

    its the gauge.
