i go on the internet to find out how to make a website, but all the directions are so confusing. and mostly there's just software programs that you can buy so you can follow steps to make it. I just want simple directions

Use Geocities by Yahoo.
Everything you need including the software that uses
WYSIWYG
What You See is What You Get.
Meaning you start with a blank page and ecerything you add and you see is what is on the page.
Very Simple to use.
You will need to purchase a Domain Name through them as well. Just choose the plan that will work for you.

You have to use html, best to use notepad for beginners. Here's a good site for it
