Best way to get ethernet or wi-fi out in my barn?
It's out of range of the wireless router in the house. I've got electricity out there but no phone line.
Well, running a physical cable is out of the question. Maybe the powerline thing will work -- know of a good product?
As to why, I am thinking of wi-fi radio and a webcam.

You can use an Ethernet cable up to 300 feet without any loss. Or you could buy wireless boosters and high gain aerials. Another option would be to run Ethernet down your mains electricity line by using homeplugs.

Here's an option. Put 3rd party firmware in a Linksys wireless router, and you can configure the Linksys routers
as repeaters. The Linksys routers are capable of a lot
higher transmit power, but this can only be achieved with
3rd party firmware. This would be a timeconsuming approach. I'd just buy a repeater, run a cable, try to place
your current wireless router in a strategic location, etc.

just fix a router/switch,it runs on electricity (lol) but it acts like an amplifier for the ethernet chord when its reached its max distance may be its either 100 or 300 feet,m using a 100ft cable without any amplification.
i dont think its gonna be a costly thing.

Either get a REALLY long Ethernet cord extender or have your ISP (Internet Service Provider) to come out and install a connection in the barn. NOTE: This could be rather pricy, why do you want internet in a bard anyways =p

Buy a range extender (or two). For about the cost of a router, this device will allow your wifi signal to increase up to double. You will need to keep it covered if you're going to mount it outside, however. Just whatever you do, absolutely DO NOT get a super long Ethernet cable. It's a bad idea to even consider running an Ethernet cable outside, where it's exposed to the elements. Heck, it's a bad idea to even step on an Ethernet cable. You wouldn't believe just how fragile they are! Get a range extender. It's the best way. Just be sure you can get a power connection wherever you plan to put it.
