Yahoo Answers Age Restrictions?

Why exactly is there a age restriction? I know plenty of children with as much wisdom as many adults. Why should we block there help. Im sure lots of ten year olds have just as many best answers as some 30 year olds. Maybe they should have you state your age when you become a member so other members know who their advice is coming from. Or have a parents permission form. Im not saying some questions are not innapropriet for children but some kids could probably benefit from this site. I know my child would

Update:

Ok i understand where some of you are coming from but seriously what 10 year old wants to talk about your breastfeeding problems anyways?? I really think that if your going to have a age resttiction for this site even 13 is to young. You dont want a 12 year old to help but a 13 year old can?? I guess a age restriction is nice for all the less than helpful people surfing the web. If only there was a way we could ensure the yahoo answerers are responsable.--Maybe some day

Update 2:

Also i'm probably going to take you more seriously if you don't insult me before you post a helpful answer.

Update 3:

And Btw "Bugsey" If you were really that smart you might know saying a instead of an is a grammer mistake not a spelling mistake. Educate your self before you try to educate others

Update 4:

Called a typo

Okay, yes, I am a young teen, but I do have the maturity to be on Yahoo! Answers. The way I type makes people think that I am an adult. I wouldn't answer questions I didn't know. I have learned alot because of Answers, and hope to keep learning. I go on here in my spare time, and enjoy it.

I think 13 is a perfect age for restrictions. Most kids my age HAVE NO MATURITY, and it extremely bothers me. I ignore all of the stuff that isn't "age" appropriate for me. I had another account, but I decided to start a new one. (which is this one).

But, I use the Internet on my own all the time. I am probably on the Internet longer than I watch TV. And I learn ALOT.

I think it's a good thing to have the age restriction. Although you can tell by some of the questions and answers on here that they can get around that as well. Like some of the others have said, I don't think that I want to be getting advice from a 10 y/o on some things.

You would seriously let your child use the internet on his/her own wow!!

Would you want advice on adult troubles from a kid

the content on this site is not apropriate for kids I wouldn t want my daughter reading about sex and womens troubles etc. Kids do not have the answers due to there lack of life experiance the only way this would work is if yahoo were to make a childs section (which will never happen)

I think children should be restricted from answering questions but aloud to ask. Many children could use some direction

Try this:Go find some 11 year olds account and try looking at their best answers. You will probably be surprised.

You should download Firefox, it has an awesome spell check!

Seriously though, no .... there NEEDS to be an age restriction (see that? "an" age restriction). There was a 13 year old on here who took someone so seriously that her next question was: "how do I drop out of school?".

I couldn't imagine anyone on here younger than that.

Ok, look at this chick : http://answers.yahoo.com/my/qa/index;_ylt=Au.._xRY...

age 13, and look at her Q and A. getting advise on how to lose weight, make out, bleaching her hair blond, calling gay people 'freaks', etc ..

you want your daughter around stuff like that?

I didn't say "an" was a spelling mistake. And dear, it's grammar (not grammer) =).

if we don't restrict things a child does at certain ages what are thy gonna do when they done it all. If you feel that way its okay for you and yours but remember the faster they experience life the more they want to try. maybe you should create a childrens ask and answer web site

From what I've seen on here there is no way I'd want my child on Yahoo answers.

Also, I have no interest in getting breastfeeding advice from a 10 year old. I guess it depends on the category.

I agree with "Mom" there is no way I would want my children on here as well. I feel that some of the kids I do see post on here are way too young to be asking the questions they ask.

Children need to be 13 to use the internet by themselves. Yahoo is just following the law.

Many of the answers are immature at best already. We don't need to exacerbate the issue by letting children in, although I'm pretty sure they do anyway.
