What do you think is a FAIR solution to illegal immigration?

What do you thik is a fair solution to illegal immigration? Taking into account that America was built on immigrats, and it is one of its longest standing traditions. But also taking into account that America is a place of laws, and that illegal immigrants break those laws by crossing the borders. So what do you think is a FAIR and HUMANE solution to this MAJOR problem facing our country?

ps. mature answers only please.

There is no way to rond up all of the illegals that are here now and send them back and even if we did they would just return that is proven by the amount of times some of them have been deported

So the best way to handle it is to fine the people who employ these people. A large fine say 10k per illegal that they knowingly hired. When any job I have been hired for started me the 1st thing I had to do was fill out goverment forms and show proof of eligability to work which they kept records of. If the employer can not show that then a 10k fine for each person working for him that is illegal. Then go after the land lords. 10k for each tenent they cant prove had proper documents.

Without jobs and a place to live they will go home on their own.

Then once this is done we streamline the immigration process so that people are not having to wait so long to get through the process. We set limits on how many can come from each country that way each has an equal chance of immigrating here. Of course we would have to make exceptions for people who have skills that are needed here such as doctors and things like that.

If the jobs that the illegals are not filled after all of this we can set up guest worker programs like canada has where they come for set amounts of time and overstaying their limit will get them banned from further programs.

If we still can not fill the work the illegals were doing then we need to use prision labor to fill the jobs. The farmer or what ever the employer is would pay the prision for each laboerer he uses (min wage) the prision would pay the prisioner the required amount by law for their days labor (like .33 and hour) and the rest of the money would go towards paying for housing that prisioner.

We would reduce the amount of money we are paying for healthcare for illegal and it would also offset the cost of housing prisioners.

Without laws you dont have a society and why shold people who are not even citizens of the US get to pick laws they dont want to obey. Americans dont get to pick and choose what laws they want to obey.

It is a very simple fix

Okay America was built on immigrants who came here LEGALLY These people are jumping the border illegally, not paying taxes, expecting welfare and drivers licences, and mooching off the state. Illegal immigrants break too many laws and are too much trouble. A fair sollution to illegal immigration is to build a big fence on the border with gaurds. And if you try to come in here you get sent back to your own Dang country. Plus if you live in America you better speak ENGLISH, GET A JOB, AND FOLLOW THE LAWS OF OUR GREAT COUNTRY!

I think it would be fair and humane to send them back home. If anyone wants to be an American the LEGAL way, God bless them and I will welcome them with open arms. Illegals are costing taxpayers too much. They present a security problem and to put it bluntly they are LAW BREAKERS! The best thing to do is round them up and send them back home via military escort. If anyone wants to get in, they either do legally or they don't get to come. Yes, America was built on immigrants..............LEGAL immigrants! They did not come and demand everyone speak their language, wave the flag of their mother countries, demand rights they were not entitled to. Enjoy free medical care and drop anchor babies so that they would be eligible for Section 8 housing, food stamps, WIC, and free education! ALL courtesy of the American taxpayer! We cannot play favorites! There has to be respect for our laws! People who refuse to come legally have no business here! Send them back! Counties in our border states are going bankrupt! States have to pay for jailing these lawbreakers! It is high time to do something about this problem. The people in office do not care! They want open borders! It will have to be up to the American voter. I think he has FINALLY come to his senses on this issue. The last free thing any illegal should get courtesy of America.......is a free ride to the border!

build an a hundred foot unclimbable fence on the border, supply all illegals who have not been arrested a non everlasting visa (deport all who've committed crimes), pay a $5,000 advantageous, cause them to study English, they gained't have the potential to collect unemployment, welfare or meals stamps. After 5 years cause them to take an english examination and in the event that they bypass they could carry on with for a green card in the event that they have not been committed of any crimes. in the event that they fail the English examination they get temp visa prolonged for a million greater twelve months and in the event that they do no longer bypass the English examination the 2nd time then they're going to could desire to circulate away the rustic. additionally make confident anybody is utilising e-verify.

I think that it fair that they are given the opportunity to return home within a reasonable amount of time.

If they do not return home and are caught after that time, they should be incarcerated in work camps. If they agree to willingly work the sentence would diminish and they could return home by deportation.

If not, they could spend their time incarcerated, living in tents dorm style, eating American fast food and sitting on benches. No TV, no exercise equipment or play things.

They would never be allowed into the country again or have opportunity for citizenship.

There is not a .... fair.... solution to illegal aliens. The law is the solution, and it clearly tells the President that all the laws he refused to enforce should have been enforced, but will now be enforced.

If the law is worth beans in this country.. they will be sent home as quickly as they can be sent home.

  • I think that the fair thing is to follow the laws. It's that simple.

Too many fail to understand that the laws are there for a reason, and that if they weren't needed they wouldn't have been created. They didn't have immigration laws, and it got out of hand. So they created INS and the laws to balance and control the flow.

I think that instead of a "flat fee" for applying and such, they should maybe adopt a policy that bases the fee upon a percentage of what their annual income is. This might level the playing field for many individuals that claim they are too poor to come in the legal way. Also maybe raise the number of immigrants that are given visas each year.

In turn, I think that there should be a tougher tracking process, as well as tougher border security and inspection of vehicles coming into this nation. We need to hire more border patrol agents - hundreds more - as well as agents that are authorized to do surprise visits to those in the nation on visa - whether it be a work visa, student or whatever. And we also need to allow our local law enforcement to be in on the process of dealing with illegal immigrants that are apprehended in traffic violations, criminal activity or otherwise. It is the state and local governments that end up dealing with the largest financial strain due to illegal immigration - allow them to protect their own interests.

We also need to revisit the "law" that states anyone born in the borders of the US is automatically a citizen of the nation. This does nothing but encourage illegals to come into this nation to use their unborn children as "anchor babies" to keep them in the country. I think that a baby born in the US is offered legal citizenship only if both parents are legally in the US - whether it be on visa or whatever, but they must be legally here. If either one of the parents are not legally in the US, then the child does not get to be a US citizen. If you remove the temptations, then it will remove the desire to break the laws.

The government also needs to get tough on those in this nation that hires illegal immigrants. Furthermore, those that offer housing to illegal immigrants should also be dealt with. The penalties need to be stiff. Hit them in the wallet with huge fines. Remove the temptation to break the laws and get money from those that are not legally here, and will not report unfair practices or labor law violations. They do it for the money, and not to "help" these individuals.

Schools also need to be considered. If someone is not here legally, their children do not get to attend our schools for free. I think they should have to pay for their children to use our schools. These children are not factored in when it comes to budgets, and they are a part of the reason that classrooms are overcrowded, and that the student/teacher ratio is 40:1 instead of lower. Schools don't have the text books, supplies, seating and proper tools to educate the students. And the ones that pay for this are not the illegals - the taxpayers and the legal kids do. Schools are tax funded. If they don't pay taxes, then they should have to pay tuition.

In the medical community, something needs to be done as well for them. If someone goes into a clinic or hospital, if they are here illegally the authorities should immediately be notified. I know that people are going to scream about them not seeking out medical attention then, but in California the illegal immigrants were responsible for the closing of over 66 hospitals and clinics due to non payment. They don't give the proper information, and in turn never get a bill. And who pays for that? The legal individuals that do pay for their medical care. Hospitals are in a spot because they ethically can't turn someone away due to their ability to pay or not. Something needs to be done to help them do something so they can follow the laws, but yet protect themselves from being ripped off.

There is so much more, but I think that this is a start. I am not looking to make it harder for everyone to get into this country, but we also have to get rid of the mentality of trying to save the world. We take in more immigrants legally than all of the rest of the nations of the world do COMBINED. That is a ridiculous statistic, and I think instead of us taking in more, maybe we need to look at what the other nations are doing for the "poorer" nations of the world. . .

Take away the jobs by fining employers. If the employers and corporations can not hire illegals, they will leave on their own. It is happening already in Arizona..Tuesday, Jan.1st is coming up and it is quite humane and fair for all.

Secure all borders, cut off all benefits to illegal aliens, use the laws on the books to fine all employers who hire illegal aliens, deport all illegal aliens.

Yes America was built on immigrants and too many people forget that, even those who's parents were immigrants want to discriminate against other immigrants.

A fair solution is to hold major negotiations with the country of Mexico to open jobs there.

And It's funny how some people here are calling these immigrant workers "criminals", when they overlook real criminals here in this country.
