hypo pigmented spots after wounds?

Hi, I hope that someone here has a LEGITAMITE answer on this.

The problem is that recently whenever I get a wound (Talking about slight cuts here) and it healed, the area where the wound was just turns into a hyo-pigmented mark and the color doesn't go back to normal either. I'm medium brown skin and the marks are a beige color. I have several marks on my body where this has happened and they are ugly to me. Not every wound that I get would turn out like this so this is just a random thing. I have used cocoa butter and other fading creams, but nothing works.

Does anyone know what the cause to this is or what I could do to get rid of these marks?

Update:

P.S. The marks are LIGHTER (Hypo-pigmentation) than I am, not darker, so I don't know if it is post inflammatory pigmentation.

Update 2:

Never-mind, that is the problem. I looked it up online and found out that it is Post Inflammaroty HYPOpigmentation. Well, now that I know what it is, does anyone know what I can do to get rid of it? Would a mild aha chemical peel get rid of it? because that is what I'm going for this week.

It is called Post Inflammatory Pigmentation. That means that because the skin was wounded to a degree that the dark pigment spills into the skin as as way of healing. Unfortunately there is not much you can do, just be patient it takes around 6 months to fade and sometimes never goes away. Keeping out of the sun will help, dont tan it makes it worse. Also ask a dermatology doc for a prescription to fade, nothing over the counter will work. Next time you get a scape or something never pick off the scab. If you do get a prescription ask your doctor for samples he or she may give you, as a medicine for fading cream (hydroquinone) is not covered by insurance usually costs $50 a tube. Good Luck
