Activities for 3 year olds?

I am going to be a p/t nanny for a 3 year old girl soon and although I have experience with kids I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for learning activities for 3 year olds. Her mother wants me to come with at least one activity planned per day (which I think is a great idea too) and then improv from there so I was wondering what ideas others might have. Thanks :)

well my son turns 3 in april, He enjoys coloring books which helps him with focus. He likes leap frog which is nice cause it helps motor skills! hand eye coordination-any kind of video game! well except violence...etc.Practice dancing! i know sounds funny but it helps them learn words, and about their body! Get them up and get them dancing and tell them touch your belly and dance..etc they start to learn about their body always make learning fun!

Find out if your local library has a story hour. Most have it one day per week. My 3 year old loves going there...he made a lot of new friends there and likes to see the same people every week.

We have dance time. Everyday we turn up the music (Hokie Pokie, If You're Happy and You Know It, etc...) and dance until he's tired...15 minutes or so.

Outside activities are a MUST! Summer; hang out at the beach or pool, build a sand castle. Gather rocks and make a rock garden.

Fall; pick leaves and paste them to posterboard to make a wreath.

Rainy days; go out and find worms that have come to the surface. Jump in puddles and see who can make the biggest splash.

Snow: a snow man, of course. Follow animal tracks and make up a story about the animal that you are playing "hide and seek with".

There is learning in everything...walk around and have her point out everything green...or every triangle...or something moving fast and something moving slow.

I think you should focus on the major areas of development which are social, fine and large motor skill, and intellectual. I think you should read to her everyday regardless of the activity thing. You should also include and activity that focuses on her gross motor skill like skipping, hopping, even just playing outside or at a baby gym type atmosphere would work. Also you should get her out and around other kids as much as is conveniently possible. Three year olds can practice learning letters through sight identification, they "help" you prepare lunch. You can do lots of things with her as long as you make it fun and positive. My daughter always loved activities that involved animals at that age; well I guess she still does. What about getting chutes and ladders, candy land, and even coloring books!

From a 3 yr old perspective - ANYTHING MESSY - painting, playdoh

Colouring, drawing. Any learning activities such as number games, learning alphabet. Could do cutting and pasting making things for Mum and Dad to give them when they come home.

My 3 yr old has decided helping in the kitchen is fun you could decorate plain biscuits with icing them put on different lollies etc...

    Have fun.
