becoming a model?

i want to become a model. i live in south dakota, i'm 5', and i'm a full time mom. almost everything that i've read keeps saying the minimum height for a woman model is 6'8" and i haven't read anything about models being moms. i haven't had any modeling experiance, but i really want to become a model. if someone has any information on where to start and how to start, or anything that i would need, please let me know. modeling has always been a really big dream of mine that i've always wanted to do. so any advice would be very helpful. thanx.

That's great that you have ambition to be a model! Unfortunately the minimum height for modelling is 5'6" and between 108-130lbs. However, if you are lucky, you might be able to get into catalogue modelling. They are a little bit more flexible then say runway or fashion magazines. And i think you mis read that 6'8" requirement for a female model. That's absurd! no woman is that tall!

Lots of models are mom's, but not full time. Let's be realistic. You are too short and probably do not have the figure to get paid huge sums of money just for standing in front of a camera. Why don't you get the dream out of your system by paying for a professional photo shoot? You can keep these photos for the rest of your life.

If you left South Dakota, and were so stunning that everyone forgot about your height, you could relocate to Dallas, Miami or LA. All three have have a thriving commercial modeling business. You might be able to get sporadic ad or catalogue work. Vegas can always use tradeshow models, but the work is hard and you will need big breasts. You will never do high fashion or runway.

Real life stats: The average "working model" in NYC makes less than $10,000 a year from modeling. The average model has a second job. The average Vogue photoshoot pays the model $300. (You do it for the exposure), but the make up artist gets upwards of $600 a day.

I'm sorry, being 5'0 does not a model make. I know some glamour models that tall but they are exceptional.

And no, a model cannot generally be a mom at the start of their career. You have to life and breathe modeling to make it, and you simply cannot manage that with a child.

6'8"??? yeah right! the shortest they will take is 5'6"..and that is even cutting it short. you have to be stunning to be a model under 5'8". i am sorry but five feet is Way too short. and modeling is a full time job and it would be hard with kids. and we would need to see pictures.
