How do I share files on my home network?

I have a HP desktop computer with Windows XP SP2, and a Toshiba laptop (I would highly recommend) with Windows Vista. I have a D-Link wireless router. I can get wireless Internet to work great, and I can also print wirelessly from the laptop. I have a San Disk flash drive, but I have to plug it in, wait for it to load, copy the file to a folder on the flash drive, safely remove it, and then repeat on the other computer. How do I share files over the network without plugging anything in?

Set up shared folders on one or both of the computers. You can then right-click on "My Computer" and map a network drive to the respective shared folders on the computer(s).
