how can I convince my parents to let me watch R rated movies?
I'm 14, and I see all my friends being allowed to watch R rated films. I just don't think it is fair. can anyone think of a clever way to convince them?

The best idea would be to prove to your parents that you're mature - try doing more around the house and acting more mature, but don't do it in a way that screams "HEY! LOOK AT ME, I'M BEING MATURE OVER HERE!!" That didn't sound very mature, did it? Once your parents feel you're ready to watch, they'll let you know. Good luck. :)

The Reality is, MOM said NO, she doesn't need to explain to a child her reasons. She made a decision based on her experience, maturity and parenting abilities. Your parents have been more than fair and lenient, so WHY are you pushing this? You even mentioned that you heard this particular movie wasn't that good, which leads me to believe you are doing this just for the sake of "winning" something that you really don't need. I've been a parent for over 40 years, raised 10 kids, and here is what happens when one of my children pushed for something they really didn't need, just thought that since Dad was lenient in some areas they would try for more despite my having told them NO......they not only don't get what they wanted, I begin to tighten up the reins, maybe remove one privilege already granted. I made/make decisions based on what I know is in the best interest of a Child. If a child can give a good reason as to why this privilege is required I will consider their reason, BUT you didn't even have a good reason. Sorry, let it go before you find Mom rethinking being so lenient in other areas.

I'm a parent to a 20, 15 and 13 yr old kids. There is no way over my dead body are they watching any rated R movies much less any movies that are of questionable story line.
There is a reason it is rated R and there is a reason why you can't watch them till you are of age.
Your brain isn't developed enough in the frontal lobe to understand the consequences of what is going on in the movie to relate it to real life and realize that what goes on in the movie doesn't happen in life.
As well as there are sexual aspects of the movies that you dont need to be seeing as a child.
My 15 yr old would tell you the same thing. Matter of fact she just did.

Some movies I bet you've already seen on TV. Romie & Michelle's High School Reunion and Breakfast Club for example. If you haven't reacted badly to those movies, I don't see why you shouldn't be able to watch R rated movies approved by your parents.

telll your parents you are going through puberty and need some more mature movies to watch and just maybe they will get the hint.

well, maybe they can watch the ones you want to see first and they can decide whether or not they are really THAT bad
or ask them why they won't let you, and after all they are just movies

No. Just wait until you are older. "Because all my friends parents let them" is never going to convince your parents to let you do something that they don't agree with.

ask if they will watch it with you and then if it is really bad then you both can just turn it off... dont say that other kids can because it never works!
