How can I tell if my spouse has an unknown Yahoo (or other) e-mail account on our home computer?
On one occasion many months ago I was in a folder that I can't remember, cleaning up old files, and saw an odd file name. When I opened it, it was a Yahoo e-mail log-in page with the user name filled in, almost like a saved screen shot. She got defensive and made up an excuse and I "allowed" it to blow over, but of course I am now curious to see if she has an e-mail account that she may be hiding. Any suggestions?

I may suggest to sit sit and talk with your partner. Forget that surveillance thing. If you don't trust her, cut off the relationship.

Short answer: Yes, he can. There are plenty of monitoring solutions: starting from key loggers that intercept keystrokes, take screen shots of your active window and intercept the content of the mail. Also there are bussines solutions that monitor the time you spend on a certain sites or applications. Usually the employee is not aware that he is monitored as these applications run in stealth mode. The best way to handle this issue is to ask your employer what is the company's internet usage policy and try to follow the rules.

You are a controll freak. You need to loose someone you love out of your own stupidity. You're not good enough for her and need to grow up.
I'm Sorry. These "I must rule over my mate" topics sometimes get me so fired up.

My ex-husband found something to use to monitor what I was doing on the computer. He hacked into my e-mail and read everything that came in and went out. Needless to say, I lost a whole lot of trust in him, come to find out he was cheating on me! Hows them apples??? Just ask her and ask her to be honest with you.

So nice to see such a trust-filled relationship. My suggestion would be to retain an good divorce attorney now if you ever bring it up to her again.
