is there anything wrong if a budgie chews on paper or on anything that is soft like a blanket? if there is anything wrong with that, will the material hurt the bird if for any reason the bird chews off a piece of the paper and swallows it?
by the way i made a mistake on the title it is supposed to be paper not papar
and also they keep fighting for this specific piece of paper and i put out little pieces but they seem to want the other piece

Birds love to chew, and they have favorite things to chew on.
My Grey chews on about anything, the cords to my computer...LOL, but she is on the other side of the room now, she doesn't get those cords anymore.
I made her a toy from the natural paper liner that came in a roll of wrapping paper, some wooden spools (craft section of wally world) some veg tanned leather (that and raw hide are the only bird safe leathers), loofa sponges ($1.00 at Big Lots- cut them with a big serrated knife and a cutting board) pure cotton rope... all of these make great toys, chew items... make sure the size of the toys fit the bird, but give him lots of toys and stuff to chew on... fleece is also good, and you can get 1/4 yard for a couple of bucks, fleece is nearly unshredable.
Many bird keeper do not use toilet paper tubes because of the bacteria in the bathroom, use pieces of a paper towel tube instead!!

My conure is doing the same. She is trying to build a nest. You may notice that the budgie is agressive if you bother it in the middle of shredding. You just had to ride the phase out.

birds are supposed to play with toys, and they make toys for birds out of shredable grasses, wood, and even paper-type things.
Some paper has chemicals on it that is not good for the bird. I know that telephone book WHITE pages are good for birds to shred, but YELLOW pages are poison because of the pigment that turns them yellow.
If your birds do not have any toys besides the paper, pease for the bird's sake read a book about birds to learn how to care for them. If they do have toys -- ingore the last sentance although reading a book if you have no read one can always help.
my cockatiel only wants paper that i'm working on. it's kinda like a toy is fun if the other kid is seen playing with it. that's why your birds fight over a piece of paper.
phone book white pages is a good source of bird-toy payper.
you can kinda make your own toys for birds too by putting treats inside crumpled paper, so stuff tubes from toilet paper with other paper and things like that, or cut up the tubes and put them on a cotton or bird-safe string (has to be un-treated by dyes and stuff) so it hangs on a string. birds like that sort of stuff. they can bang it around as well as shred it.

Most of the time they shred paper to satisfy their nesting instinct. It will not hurt the bird just create a mess for you to clean up.
