Computer screen goes black??

I have a one year old Dell. A Windows XP Pro system will display the Windows logo and then then the screen goes black and nothing else displays. Now what?

call dell....they usually help quickly and efficiently. I assume you're using a different computer, so if it's in the same vicinity as the troubled one, you can talk to someone from dell online. The following webpage should help. There's a phone number and a link for live chat at the top of the page.

Your computer goes into power save mode. SImply adjust your settings. Right-click on the desktop. Choose properties, click Screensaver tab, then settings.

A loose connection or bad power supply.

First check all cables and power cord to make sure they are are "seated" properly. If necessary unhook them and hook them back up again. Power back up.

If the problem continues then the next culprit is probably your power supply. It has a short. Have it replaced. Do not power up a computer that has a defective power supply. Too many things can go wrong through electrical shortages.

Do you have an insurance? If so, use it. Also, contctacting Dell would be good. Maybe they know what did it. I hope it gets fixed!

    Good Luck!!

Try to reboot or restart it.

If this fails, you should call Dell Customer Support.

If you have the warranty, take it back and exchange.
