do you think that if you lose points because some driveby lowlife reports your question or answer?

that they should lose points also?

Not talking about as much as the reported does let's say 5 points, just to keep folks honest.

what do you think?

Update:

if legitimate i agree, but how many truly are? wait till someone disagrees with and reports you out of meanness you'll get it then

It is an interesting idea - why not.

It would help prevent people doing it for no reason.

I don't get what's unfair. If you legitimately violate the terms of service, then you are the only one who needs to lose any points.

I've been reported by people out of their meanness. I think YA is trying to solve that problem in their reviewing of reported questions. The problem with taking the points off of the "reporter," is that then there is the fine line of mind-reading to figure out the intention of the reporter.

It's better if points come off the reported person (yep, it's happened to me) and YA to keep working to improve their reviewing technique (rather than just deleting questions without a review).

Yahoo! Answers has specific policy for deleting questions or answers, so if someone reports your Q/A with no good reason, no one will lose any points.
