Why is mail in my bulk mail folder dated 2038?

Apparently those spammers like to use Unix-based systems and they set the date as far forward as they can so their junk mail will be on top. They can only set the date as far as January 18th, 2038 as Unix systems cannot keep dates higher than that. See http://www.y2k38.info/ for more information.

I get junk mail like this to. I think the person or spammers sending it some how changed the date in their email. How it's done, I don't know.
