    If the charge is +3, three atoms of chlorine (-1) have to combine with it, so the atom has to have 3.9*3, or 11.7 times the mass of chlorine. The mass of chlorine is 35.45, so 35.45*11.7 should give the atomic mass of the element, but it equals 414.765, which is much higher than the atomic mass of any element that's been discovered.
