So we have the same problem
this is impossible for me to concentrate on mathematics coz I hate this subject
for example if I start to read what is it about, few seconds after my eyes are rolling and sweeping everywhere on the sheet and I don't even remember what is it about ..
And that s the same all the time when this is math
I guess this is due to the fact that during school , there wasn 't any teacher that managed to give an interesting view of maths and its practical applications in engineering and real life
In French schools we do Mathematics just to do maths which I hate. If I study the same mathematic application but in physics coz the physics need maths and that I see how it can be useful , then I ll get it
to concentrate on maths I think I would need someone pointing a gun on my head coz at the moment I just don't do maths anymore

Hi Friend, I used to have the same problem in maths. I was weak in maths in my childhood and my marks were always low. In fact, I used to hate this subject. But now, the situation has changed completely. Maths is now my very best subject and I am scoring higher in maths than in any other subject. Do you want to know how this happened? Well, here are a few simple tips which might help you.
1) First of all, you must free your mind of all anxiety and try to concentrate. Focus is the key for mathematics. You can achieve more concentration by regular meditation. If you believe in God then free your mind of all thoughts and think only of the almighty. Pray to him and admire him for the beauty of his creations and the numerous blessings which he has conferred upon your life. Trust me, this can really help you. Remember that all knowledge originates from the lord.
2) Be confident, but not overconfident. Always bear in mind that there is nothing you cannot do if you are determined and willing to do it. Never feel nervous or afraid when you encounter a tough sum during the exam. Being brave does not mean that you are not afraid, but being brave is doing that which you are afraid to do. So, try to Overcome your fears. fortune favours the brave.
3) try to get the basic concepts of maths clear by asking your teachers.
4) practice a reasonable number of sums daily as practice makes perfect.
5) try to avoid silly mistakes like errors in numerical calculations during the exam.
6) Make sure you get enough sleep before the exam.
Believe me, maths is actually easier than most other subjects. I have followed these simple steps and I have been able to score high in maths in my board exam (ICSE), for which I am ever thankful to the benevolent god

Love the subject and the subject will love you. I used to love maths a lot and got excellent points but when I started to hate it, my points said goodbye to me. Hehe. It's true. About your sum problems, have you tried counting with your fingers? Oh...dear, there are only ten, huh? Then add your toes to them. It'll make 20. Hehe. Just simply use a calculator please. Friends help a lot too. Ask the geeks some advise.
Sinking in maths is not the real problem here. Failing in life is. Can't do well in the subject, just drop it. Life is like a role-playing game. So many options to take.

You can't come asking how to concentrate as everyone is different my techniques are.
Be in a study environment (Library) if possible
If at home, TVs and Radios turned off (music is ok though)
Messengers turned OFF
Don't stare at questions for hours, look at it for 5-10 mins, then move on, your subconcious starts to work it out. (Thats why sometimes you go back and it suddenly clicks into place)
Eat and drink plenty (Eat foods such as fruit as they help boost, junk food tends to slow me down)
Exercise before hand - Before studying I usually go for a half hour walk, clears the head etc.

u need someone to explain u the problems, u are not able to understand how to derive the answers, ask u r teacher or a cleaver student to help u to understand the subject first then u can easily solve the problems

"Play while you play and study while you study" has become obsolete in todays competitive world.
To keep the pace with current one need to have diversified interest and capability to excel too.
To over come ..enjoy the maths instead of having tension of it.
Play music while you exercise the maths.
And see the change!
Best of luck.

I advice you to listen well to the teacher specially when she is discussing the lessons. If you can't understand the lesson, feel free to ask your teacher anyway, she understands that not all of her students are fast learners.
