WW11 Unknown facts.?
On Dec.23,1941 a oil tanker , Montebello, was sunk about 6 miles off the coast of San Simeon, California--by a Japanese sub.
All the news papers reporting this were bought up by the Federal goverment.
Any one have other interesting facts about the war?

Hitler was trying artificial insemination to start his "Master Race" (they had a 'Baby Plant" still standing in Wurzburg where I went to school)
And
the reason we lost so many bombers trying to flatten Schweinfurt twice was they had below ground hangars for the fighters and would flood the top to make it look like a lake! (I lived there 78-80)

So an oil tanker gets popped of Cali by a Japanese sub, (despite the fact at that time the Japs had no sub capable of sailing to the shores of the USA from Japan) but with the recent attack in attack at Pearl Harbour, Hawaii a few weeks before the USA was suffering from "Japanese attack paranoia" so the only alternative would have been it was sunk by a German Sub,
The bomber in the Empire State building made the newsreels of the time and was well reported, in the newspapers, there was no cover-up!!

Not during the war but right after it. A B-26 medium bomber flying over NYC accidentally flew into the Empire State Building. This was not reported on directly, and only many years later when the building was being repaired was the actual event alluded to in the newspapers.
Thank you Oscar-six!
