Turtle trouble?

On 7.1.2008. I will go visit my grandparents with my family. But my young red eared slider will normally stay at home. Now, my question is:What should I do?

should I put a lot of food in the tank, and go?

or should I put no food at all in the tank?

I will be at my grandparent's house about 3-4 days.

Taking the turtle with me is not an option.

thanx

You don't have to feed turtles everyday. Feed them as much as they can eat in five minutes right before you leave. They'll be alright for a few days. Just be sure to feed them right when you get home.

You can put a little food in, but since turtles have a slow metabolism, going without food for 3-4 days won't harm it. I would leave a half dozen or so of small goldfish. This way if the turtle is hungry, he can hunt for his food and get exercise.

It's what I did for all my turtles whenever I had to be gone. A dozen fish last a week or more.

3-4 days is okay for turtles to go without food. just leave some romaine lettuce or anacharis. so whenever their hungry your turtle can take a bite of it. you can add minnows, but the uneaten one will stink up your tank. just feed as much before you leave to your granparents and then when you come back home feed your turtles.

As long as you feed your RES once a month or two, there should be no problem. It's a reptile, not a mammal, and it's wintertime. Your turtle's metabolic rate should be too low for it to require any food during your absence.

first of all putting no food in the tank is not an option.... Unless u want it to die. But if you dont put a little more food than usual cause if you put too much it might over eat and die. Hope this helps!!!
