is there a way to get rid of desktop icons without deleting the file???

Move them to another folder. I have all of mine in my "Music" folder. You'll have to change the path to them once you try to play them in iTunes again though. It won't be hard...iTunes will prompt you on what to do.

Most desk top icons are shortcuts to the program. Deleting a desktop icon won't delete the program, it is in your computer and you can get to it by going into the program menu. The desk top icon is just a short cut.

There are a few that are the program rather than being a shortcut.

If you're using Windows XP deleting just a shortcut icon doesn't delete the file(s) associated with that shortcut. Right click the icon you want to delete.

if you have a copy of them in your start menu you should have no problem deleting them off of your desktop without deleting the entire thing if you do delete the entire thing go to the reciclyng bin restore it copy it to the start menu and delete it if you hit move to recycling bin it would work or if you put it on windows media player

if you downloaded them onto your desktop if you delete them they will delete perm, but if you downloaded them into your documents and only have the shortcut on your desktop then when you delete the shortcut you should be fine.

Yes, just right click and delet. They will not be gone but they will be off the screen. To remove, go to control pannel and go to add or remove programs, and do so, depending on what they are.

it wont delete your files if you click on each icon you don't want to see by right clicking on the icon and click delete.

yes, right click your mouse and point at the icon and scroll to delete. nothing is ereased except the i-con. you have to go into programs to delete all

try saving those songs into a file somewhere easy to find on your computer, such as my documents. then you can delete the icons and still have the songs.

when you sav them somewhere else, you can also use copy&paste
