How many times has this happened, a game ended by a potential game winning homerun being robbed

It has happened numerous times. The latest one I could recall was when when Carlos Delgado on The Mets hit one that would have just made it over and the left fielder of the Braves Willie Harris jumped up and made the catch. It was a heart-braker.

There is no stat - or way of truly saying how many time it has happened, however it seems to happen to every team about every 1-2 years, so I would say it happens around 15-30 times a year (guessing). However - there is also factoring in did a fan reach over and grab the ball that could have been caught (and thats a potential game winning catch being robbed) in many ways as well - thats a number in interested in.

  • A catch to rob a walk off home run does not happen all that often. It might only happen several times a season in the entire MLB. I never miss baseball tonight.
