Cabinet Refacing?

I am thinking about getting my cabinets refaced. I like the lay out and the boxes are in good shape. I got a quote from Sears for about $9500. That includes 14 doors, new drawer boxes(8), she said about 26 linear feet of caninet and molding. Also, I am getting a new counter top. Not a granite top. So I have two questions?

Has anyone had any experiance with Sears refacing their cabinets and is this to much $$$ for this job?

you need to call 1800-79-Depot. Home Depot comes out and gives you a free estimate. Tell them the quote you got from Sears too. Keep in mind that Cabinet refacing is not always the cheapest way out. You can also get coupons from Home Depot. Go to the post office and get one of those change mail envelopes. there is a coupon request in there you can ask for. Get one of the Home Depot Designers to give you quotes. They don't work off commission so they'll try and get you the lowest price. Just ask for it. I speak from experience on both refacing and new cabinets.

Yes, that is to high. Look in the yellow pages for someone that specializes in cabinet refacing and get a quote. Also phone around to Kitchen and Bath businesses and ask if they do it or if they know someone that they would recommend. I know that where I live there is a kitchen cabinet supply shop that refaces the original doors and they look fab when done and the cost to my clients is minimal. This business has a wood working shop and are able to do this work. Some kitchen cabinet places only supply prefab boxes that they order in, and some only have a line that they manufacture, so you have to ask around.

way steep. shop around prices. avoid third party companies like sears, home depot, etc. check prices with a company that just refaces cabinets.
