What are the symptoms of bacterial vaginosis?
I just got from the ER with flu like symptoms, stabbing stomach pain, and vaginal bleeding. I was diagnosed with BV. I have been doing research on BV but have not located where any of my symptoms have been noted. I am scheduling an apt with my obgyn tomorrow. Could there be more issues at hand or just BV? Also can BV cause any other female reprotuctive peoblems? Has anyone else experienced my symptons with BV? Thanks

You may develop a grayish-white, foul-smelling discharge. The odor, often described as fish-like, may be more obvious after sexual intercourse. You may also have vaginal itching or irritation, pain during intercourse, painful urination, and light vaginal bleeding.

Having BV can increase a woman's susceptibility to HIV infection if she is exposed to the HIV virus. It increases the chances that an HIV-infected woman can pass HIV to her sex partner. It has been associated with an increase in the development of an infection following surgical procedures such as a hysterectomy or an abortion. Having BV while pregnant may put a woman at increased risk for some complications of pregnancy. BV can increase a woman's susceptibility to other STDs, such as Chlamydia and gonorrhea.
