What ways can you remove contact lenses that don't run the risk of scratching your eye?

I use the "pinch" method to remove my contacts and my eyes have been getting irritated afterwards. My nails are short, but I'm not sure if something is getting scratched? Are there other ways to remove contacts other than "pinching"?

If at all possible, pinch with the balls of your fingers instead. That's what I do instead... Or, perhaps slide it down your eye until it hits your lower eyelid and it may come out. You can also slide it down, blink and it may come out.

To remove contact lenses, look upward or sideways while you pull down on your lower eyelid. With a finger, gently maneuver the lens onto the white of your eye. There, you can very gently pinch the lens together with your index finger and thumb and lift it off the eye. I just removed my contacts for the first time! It was hard!

Yes, my eyes were irritated, too, but I don't think its because of the scratching. I think its because they were open and not blinking and then you were putting your finger in it period.

I tried to lower my lower lid the most because I just cannot keep my upper one from moving. Then I brought the lens down, pinching it, then my upper lid blinked it out.

It took a Looong time but I finally did it!

I tried what the girl above me does, but it doesn't work. The lens just slides around.

If you get the suction thing someone else suggested, please tell e about it!!!

Yes, instead of pinching, you can move the lens down and over toward your ear, when you push the lens into the corner of your eye, it will stop, then you push it again from the outer edge of the lens, this will cause an air bubble, and you should be able to grab the lens then. This can be a little hard to get the hang of, but as soon as you do, its really easy.
