Why did UK government grant Kenny Richey citizenship?
He is a convicted murderer! So what does this government do, gives him a UK passport and works out a deal for him to come to the UK and be a free man.
Has anybody else read about this case? This guy is a total nutbag. What's more, he's getting paid by tabloid newspapers to sell his story! If he was innocent, he could have got compensation but for some reason his lawyers didn't ask for it...seems suspicious to me!
They did give him citizenship, in 2003. And guess what, the Home Office can deny citizenship to someone who is a convicted felon regardless of the country of the parents' birth.
He was a US citizen before, and even served in the US Marine Corps. Think they'll let him serve in the Royal Marines?
If he's innocent, why did he plead "no contest" and pass up $1 million compensation which he could have had if he were really wrongfully convicted?
He's not Scottish, though. His mother is Scottish. He was born in the Netherlands of a Scottish mother and an American father and only lived in Edinburgh for a few years before choosing to move to America and become a US citizen. Being a male of military age, he made a choice between US and UK and he chose US. He now decides to be British for expedience so he can get out of prison.
Read all the evidence. The guy had threatened several times to kill the woman who lived in the apartment and to burn the building down, and other witnesses (including police and fire services) claimed he bragged about starting the fire in an attempt to kill the mother of the little girl, who was his ex-girlfriend.

They didn,t give him citizenship, he is entitled to it by birth.
There were a lot of irregularities in this case. Where is your proof he is a nutcase?
I don,t blame him for selling his story, he has spent half his life on death row for a crime he says he is innocent of and he has a lot of supporters. He will need money when he gets home.
Richey, who has always protested his innocence, refused a plea bargain which would have led to an 11-year sentence for arson and manslaughter. WHY WOULD HE DO THAT I WONDER?

Your right he was a convicted murderer by the US courts... unfortunately after 20yrs of wrongful imprisonment and legal technicalities (ie someone screwed up) he plead out with time already served.
The plea - involuntary manslaughter, child endangering and breaking and entering. With no contest.
HOWEVER! seems very odd that even tho the above still pretty much means that he went in said house and someone died as a result it. The only thing he has not admitted to is starting the fire itself. Another mystery person perhaps? He knocked over a candle perhaps?
My question would be is how the fire started to begin with!!!!
Id love to read more on this story as it does sound weird to me too.
As per the ruling. Given time served is probably more than he would have gotten had he just be charged with the above originally. Hence why he expects to get cash.
Your right tho... if completely innocent then yes go after them for the $$$ but you still committed a crime and should not be rewarded for it.
They will probably cancel his citizenship in the US and thats why hes going to Scotland.

It appears the man has duel citizenship- so he always was a British citizen. He drew support from members of the British Parliament and the late Pope John Paul II.
Federal appeals court determined in August that his lawyers mishandled his case. The court overturned his conviction and sentence, saying expert testimony could have contended that the fire was an accident and not intentionally set.
Richey pleaded no contest to attempted involuntary manslaughter, child endangering and breaking and entering.
So he is not a murderder in the eyes of the law......

this isn't as problem-free because it ought to look. Ethically, i think Britain owes a wide debt to many human beings interior the former colonies - Anzacs, Canadians, and so on. and that i imagine human beings from such places must be allowed to grow to be voters in the adventure that they so desire. i stumble upon it excrutiatingly embarrassing at the same time as the united kingdom makes it so complicated for our classic allies to enter and artwork the following, even though it kind of feels that folk from places that do not have any such ties (and do not even like us) are welcomed in and afforded all kinds of privileges. regrettably, the united kingdom contains a small crew of islands, which have a starting to be inhabitants, which interior the destiny will be unsustainable. We now no longer have an business base and corporation the following is composed in many situations of taking in each and each and every others washing. I also imagine we've made a wide mistake in starting to be a member of the ecu, actually on the present words of our club. maximum human beings interior the ecu do not look to love us and for my area, i imagine we ought to have performed extra constructive to have remained dependable to our Commonwealth friends and traded extra with them. no matter if we adore it or no longer, the united kingdom is now no longer autonomous, yet has grow to be a nasty relation interior of u . s . a . of america of Europe. properly, it truly is my opinion, for what it is well worth.

He is Scottish, The last time i looked that means you don't need to apply for British citizenship.
His father was an American.
He is a convicted murderer who has always said he is innocent and could have been freed years ago if he had admitted his guilt, but he wouldn't.
I don't believe he is guilty. I just think he doesn't trust the American justice system to give him another fair trial.
