Holiday in Malaysia for the coming CNY?

I am planning a 3 days holiday in Malaysia (more like balik kampung for me) for the CNY season but suddenly my mind is blocked. I don't know where to go.

Friends out there, any suggestions for me? I have to make sure accommodation and food is not a problem.

Update:

Genting is fully booked...

Update 2:

Rosia, I would prefer some suggestions instead of the regular places. Yes, I am aware that Malaysia is a big place cos I am a Malaysian too. Just that I am away most of the time.

KLCC --> does that mean that you are suggesting KL?

Update 3:

Hi chong m

Sounds like you guys are encouraging me to stay in KL huh?

Update 4:

Anderson, I will be travelling with my family this time round. We just wanted to be together this time round and do something different.

Modjo and Groovy, thanks for the ideas. I will give it a thought.

Update 5:

Thanks chesney. I went to the web to check. Sounds great.

Update 6:

peanutz, i have the mentally that east side will still have monsoon and should be raining still.....

During festive season like Chinese New Year, it is not advisable to go to the normal touristy places and these places will be EXTREMELY crowded. Not only probably all the accomodations have already been fully booked but you'll have to queue everywhere you go eg. restaurant, lavatories etc.

Since you are Malaysian, you probably have visited most of the places where normally tourist go, so you can give them a miss. Try to stay in KL as KL will be "deserted" during this period and you'll be suprised how relaxing to venture into KL during this time. Take this opportunity to visit some of your Chinese friends / relatives on these days. As 3 days aren't that long, you probably do not have time to go the places which are further like Penang, Kuantan. Maybe you can also take a ferry ride to Pulau Ketam to enjoy the sea breeze and to see for yourself how people in this island celebrate Chinese New Year or stay overnight at "sea chalet" on the prawn rearing farm nearby. I know this place is may be "ulu" for some people but it is a great place to unwind and relax.

The major cities are bound to be crowded. How about going the other side of West Malaysia? The east coast side may be less crowded giving you more peace. Try heading to Mersing, or Kuantan or to Kota Bahru. These places may not have much of the festive mood so will be available for you and family for some quality time.

Sounds like you are into some place quiet where you and family can getaway from madness and crowd.

I would suggest these places for total relaxation and enjoy day away with spa treatment.

    1. Cameron Highland Resort: http://www.cameronhighlandsresort.com/

    2. Tanjong Jara Resort: http://www.cameronhighlandsresort.com/

    3. Pangkor Laut Resort: http://www.pangkorlautresort.com/

By the way, I do NOT work for YTL. I so happen to have experience their Pangkor Laut Resort and it was one of my most relaxing getaway that was totally worth it.

However, these places come with a rather high price. I would suggest that you try asking for special promo rates for Malaysians (if you are one). As I understand, they do sometimes have promos for locals.

i've got been to Melaka and Genting, yet by no ability to Kuala Lumpur.i discover the Petronas twin Towers, and maximum aesthetic landmarks,a inexpensive vacationer charm, and so i do no longer bypass to them.i discover Malaysia quite cool, aside from the gangs who carjack vacationers, and nicely, the hygiene can constantly be a sprint greater constructive.

woo..first of all..you have to be prepared to spend a rocket coz for your info, its a SUPER PEAK SEASON for hotels and the prices will go triple from the usual..

But if that's okay with you, i suggest its better for you to go OUT from KL itself coz KL will definitely be crowded with foreigners from Myammar, Indon and Banglas..so its a definitely no-no in KLCC either!..

anyway, how about spending your holiday at the beaches.. perhaps Langkawi, Pangkor or Tioman are some of the best place to hangout.. In Langkawi, accommodation and food wise are the best!

The best place i've stayed so far will be the:

    The Datai & The Andaman - http://www.ghmhotels.com/

    Westin http://www.starwoodhotels.com/westin/property/over...

Sunset Beach Resort (recommended for value stay) http://ww.sunsetbeachresort.com.my/

    Berjaya Beach Resort http://www.berjayaresorts.com/beachresort_langkawi...

The best place for you to go makan will be definitely at the Sun Cafe http://www.sunvillage.com.my/

Try Cameron Highland, your parents will like it better and the air is fresher up there, or go to Sabah, where you'll find all the best beach spots.

go to Pangkor Island...stay @ Teluk Nipah (Rimba Camp). cheap, comfortable, and the place is just beautiful. i mean pangkor. i wish i could be there in this CNY but my parents wanted me to join their trip-driving form kota bharu to batu pahat, Johore...visiting my eldest sister...
