Grignard reagent question....?

In a compound say para-bromochlorobenzene , on addition of 1 mol of Mg in ether ,which GR is formed and why ?

    Mg attaches itself to Br.

    Magnesium will first react with bromine. Magnesium inserts itself into the weakest bond. C-Br is weaker than C-Cl due to the lower electronegativity of the Br compared to Cl. Also, because of the lower electronegativity, bromine will be less negatively charged than chlorine which also will facilitate the reduction by magnesium.
