What is the difference between regular cigarettes and the long ones?

I work at a store where they sell tobacco products. I sell the regulars, the longs, etc. The boxes seem the same width but the 100's (or 120's) are longer, obviously. Are you getting more bang for your buck if you buy the longer ones than the regular ones? Just wondering. If so, why don't more people buy the 100's? Cigarettes are expensive and if you are paying $6 a pack or more, you might as well get more for your money, right?

Don't need any answers that say "I don't smoke" or "smoking is bad". I know this. I just want to know if there is a difference between the packs.

Just curious, that's all.

Update:

Sam. here in Michigan, you have at least $2 a pack for tax plus sales tax on top of it. so a pack of Marlboros are really $3.85 or so plus $2 tax on them plus when you ring them up you have sales tax on top of it too

    kings (regular size) = 80 millimeters

    100s = 100 millimeters

    and so on dear

    the taste is very different from one size to the next though that is why people prefer different lengths

    Virginia Slims had this idea back in the 1960s, because the company wanted more women to smoke, and smoking is (unless it's on screen and you don't smell it) a pretty gross thing. Others have taken off on other 'fashion' tangents. But it is all smoke and mirrors (npi). No matter what you do to it, the tars and nicotine affect your health, your lungs, your breath (and eventually your breathing), and your companions. It's like the newest thing, putting nicotine in sweetened little things that look like candy or breath mints. It will still kill you or make you sick. But because people are getting smarter about tobacco, they have to do something to get kids hooked on it before their brain develops fully at about age 22, when the brain is no longer so subject to addiction as it is while developing (that goes for drugs, alcohol, risky behavior, pornography, and a whole lot more compulsive behaviors as well, according to neuroscience).

    You already answered your own Q. Length. That is all. Women seem to prefer longer cigarettes. Theory is they will quit smoking it before it gets way down there (typically a man thing) and not smoke as much. HA!

    Other than the length of the cigarette, probably nothing. BTW, they are under $4.00 a pack here in FL. Less taxes!
