How fast would one have to travel to go 1/4 of a mile in 1 second?
Some1 mentioned a friend completing this task and I am unsure on their truth. I did this, but an also unsure of how right it is.
1mile per hour=1mile per 3600 seconds
therefore, you must travel 3600 miles per hour to travel 1 mile per second. At this point I know you need to decide the miles by 4 and keep the second the same, I'm just not sure which calculation to perform.
I was pretty sure i was right, i was jsut unsure, i wasn't comfident with my answer.

you already had the answer, so why ask?

You're close. Now, to go 1/4 of a mile in 1 second, you multiply 3600 miles per hour by 4 to get 900 miles per hour.

1/4 mile in 1 sec = 1 mile in 4 seconds
= 15 miles/minute. = 15*60 = 900 miles per hour.

If you went 1/4 of a mile in a second, you went 1 mile in 4 seconds, which means you went 15 miles in one minute, which means you went 900 miles per hour.

1/4 mile in 1 second
= 1 mile in 4 seconds
= 15 miles in 60 seconds
= 15 miles in 1 minute
= 900 miles in 1 hour
900 miles per hour
that's it! :)

You have it right. 1/4 miles per second *60 = 15 miles per minute * 60 = 900 miles per hour.
Always nice to see questions in here that are not part of somebody's homework.

Let's think about it. That would be 1 mile in 4 seconds and there are 3600 seconds in an hour. So would it be 900 m.p.h.?

Use the "factor-label" method:
(.25 mile/1 sec) times (3600 sec/mile) = 900 miles per hour
- KEYNARDOLv 51 decade ago
use the equation:
distance = Rate * Time
.25 mile = Rate * 1 second
Rate = .25 miles / sec
now convert that to Miles per Hour:
.25 milies/sec * (3600 sec / hour) = 900 mph

no, on no account , that's poor, "maximum human beings" could agree any vehicle which could do the a million/4 mile in below 14 seconds is rather rapid and any vehicle which could do it in below thirteen seconds is without delay up quickly
