Does Jelena Dokic represent Australia?
I know that Jelena Dokic used to represent Australia when she first turned pro, and that she switched her nationality to her country of birth (Serbia) back in 2001 because she was feuding with the Australian Tennis Association regarding her father's boorish tennnis-parent behavior. Now that she is trying to make a comeback, is she once again playing for Australia? Should she be allowed to switch her nationality so frivolously?

She will play for the highest bidder. She has no integrity and no money and will play under any flag that pays her enough money. The only reason she went back to Australia was to try and restart her flagging career with a wild card into the Australian Open and to try and get some free coaching as she has run out of money.
She is old news.

Dokic has been playing under the Australian flag since 2006 when she played in the ASB Classic in Auckland.
If her ranking allowed she would more than likely play for Australia in Fed Cup. As she does not even have a current ranking that is some way off.
On the WTA Tour website she is listed as being Australian. Dokic has also been using Australian facilities in her latest comeback.
I guess it is ok for her to switch countries as she has. She has had to go through a lot with her father. I hope to see her climb in the rankings and once again go close to the number 4 she achieved back in 2002.

Australia... funny they didn't even give her a wildcard for the Aussie Open. I hope she qualifies next week and reaches the semis.... I just love watching her play... and bounce :)
