What's an appropriate action to take when a co-worker keeps telling callers you're the purchasing agent ....

One time (when another ambulance crew ticked us off) My partner and I taped all of their crap to the ceiling before they came in to work (pagers, phones, time cards.... all of it.)

If he has a cubicle and there's no way to tape his crap to the ceiling... put i all in his waste basket and flip it over on his desk so that when he flips it over, crap flies everywhere. Tape his phone down onto the hook... fill drawers with confetti. KY the drawer handles.... Vaseline his monitor...

When the ex-girlfriend of my roommate gave out our home number as a Pizza Delivery we took orders by the dozen...

Or answer them in a fake Polish accent saying you're new on the job and when exactly they want you to come by to clean the office.

Or ask them if you could first spend a few minutes in silent common prayer and then talk about God since your denomination demands that you be sure about the religious purity of each man-made product.

Wait a minute during which you can answer some questions on yahoo.

Then tell them to go to Hell.

I think you should return the favor and post up to the Internet that Co-workers numbers saying that she's available to be rented out as a cadaver dog.

Politely tell the callers you're in sales before they have a chance to give you their spiels. After completing the call, inform your co-worker that he or she is not to misrepresent you that way. If that person continues this harassment, report him or her to your supervisor.

As a person who is forced to answer the phone all day, I know what you are going thru. I am so sick of the phone that I take calls and put them thru to whoever is available, I don't want to listen to their problems. I am too busy on answers. Even if the call is for me I pass it off to someone else.

I've got some time this afternoon. I'll call and you put me through to said co-worker. You won't have to worry about him after I'm done because he will be out on stress leave. ♥

Forward all calls to said co-worker.

Find out the name of the person who is in charge of vendor purchasing, then say Oh, you want to talk to xxxx, let me transfer you. Tell your coworker the appropriate contact as well. Or smack them, your choice!

Buy everything they offer....

I hate dealing with reps, I normally and quite rude to them unless they have something good I want. I always ask them for their latest brochures and technical booklets so I can add them to my collection.

Give them a copy of your job description.
