Should anchor, Kelly Tilghman be suspended for 'lynch Tiger' remark?
I say yes. Her remark was hurtful and irresponsible. What say you?
And Tiger's agent can not speak for him!
"HONOLULU (AP) — A commentator on the Golf Channel was suspended for two weeks on Wednesday by the company for saying last week that young players who wanted to challenge Tiger Woods should ``lynch him in a back alley.''
Kelly Tilghman was laughing during the exchange Friday with analyst Nick Faldo at the Mercedes-Benz Championship, and Woods' agent at IMG said he didn't think there was any ill intent."
Lynching is nothing to joke about. And if you cant understand why..I pity you

NO NO NO
First off Tiger Woods, from his own mouth, is not an African American, see brackets below
{In a sport considered by many as "white"-and viewed by some as racist-Tiger Woods is often described as the "Great Black Hope." His mother, Tida, as she is called by friends, bristles at this description.
"To call Tiger black is to deny my existence," she told Newsweek last year. "You know what my grandfather on my mother's side is? Dutch! White! Hah!"
While Woods writes "Asian" on forms requesting ethnicity-"Actually, I'm 90 percent Oriental, more Thai than anything," he's said-Tiger feels his ethnicity should never be an issue. And, if he is a role model, it's simply because some people want him to be. http://asianweek.com/101196/tigerwoods.h... }
Second of all to define lynching:
lynch /lɪntÊ/ Pronunciation Key -
–verb (used with object) to put to death, esp. by hanging, by mob action and without legal authority.
Nothing about race that I see there. Sure there is the connotation of it associated with African Americans, but... ummm.. Tiger is NOT African American.
Enough already of blaming present generations for sins of the past. We are all responsible for ourselves, no more VICTIM mentality!

It was an incredibly stupid thing to say, but it should have been forgotten about after Tiger Woods said he wasn't offended. Why wasn't it? Al Sharpton is a f***ing idiot and an enemy of unity and progress in this country. By turning already bad situations into major media catastrophes, he keeps the whole country divided along racial lines.
Remember how horribly he handled the Duke Lacrosse rape (false) accusations. That's Sharpton in a nutshell. Take a potentially explosive situation and add Sharpton. He's like an open flame.

What the hell? Are we so sensitive that we can't just take a goofy comment for what it is? This commentator is a talking head, probably without much thought going on at all. I guess it's the word "lynching" that is the problem? Only blacks get lynched, right? if she had said "mugged" or "shot" or "stabbed" or "beaten", no one would have said anything. I think suspending is a bit much, maybe just *****-slap her once or twice, or shake her a little bit. Remember, Tiger is a major celebrity and the best golfer in the world, not to mention that he is only a little bit black. It's funny how he is Thai when he needs to be, too. He is a big boy and can take the pressure.

it was a poor choice of words , racial infernce yes . i wonder if it had been a male that made this remark ,the outcome would have been different . ms. tilghman is the first woman to become a lead announcer in a major sport . she had the class to apolige to tiger , he did not care and was embaressed over other peoples intrusion . if tiger was not offended. why is this issue still in the news . i understand racial hatred to this date 7 generations of my family died in the camps for the simple fact they were jewish . our generation were taught to hate before we could walk . a hatered that no humans would want to carry on thier shoulders . this was not a racists comment , i think it was a matter of public outcry against a woman who broke the old boys club . if anything every woman should be screaming sexists expolation against kelly . seems the punishment does not fit a innocent person . go kelly you are a leader of women everywere

Appearantly this comentator and Mr. Woods are friends, she was chosen by Tiger himself previously to work in some instructional video with him. I do not believe there was ANY ill intent in her comment. I watched this broadcast & her comment was in RESPONSE to her male counterparts statement "if young golfers wanted to have a chance to play or challenge Tiger Woods maybe they should all get together and gang up on him." I certainly do not believe she should be repremanded. Thats ridiculous. Maybe it wasn't the most politically correct choice of words, who cares! What ever happened to free speech here in the U.S.
I personally feel like none of this would be such a big deal if the king of racist biggots himself Rev. Al Sharpton would have kept his own mouth shut.
He has done well for many people in genuinely racist situations, which is GREAT...but when he falls out of the headlines...he always worms his way back in on the most menial topics.
I wish Al Sharpton would GO AWAY!!!

Absolutely NOT.
She was paying Tiger Woods a compliment, by saying that the only way younger golfers stood a chance at being competitve was by taking Tiger out.
Then racists like Al Sharpton get involved and the Golf Channel gets all scared and intimidated.
I would like to ask Al Sharpton what he puts in his soup. If he answers, "crackers," I'll sue his big fat butt and demand he be fired.
Have you ever played a game of Hangman? I bet you have.
Does that make you racist?

Tilghman was suspended. She spoke directly with Tiger, apologized & was forgiven.
All this shows is that most of us caucasion americans are still struggling with the stigmatism placed on our innocent shoulders by a past societies sins. I am not a racist although I was brought up to hate people because of their race. I realized my parents were crazy early on and denounced the behaviour. Yet, I still struggled for years with erasing all the negative words & imagery from my head.
I think all people, especially people in the media or entertainment, should be required to think for 10 seconds about a comment before it plops out of their mouth & causes a giant uproar.( Don Imus or Mel Gibson... I've personally boycotted Mel Gibson ever since then too!)
I understand the reaction of Rev. Al Sharpton, but his kill or be killed attitude is equivilent to the stuff my parents tried to do to me. Tone it down with the judgemental attitude Al. Try taking a nice relaxing vacation & institute a regimen of breathing exercizes & visualization or colour therapy in your life... you'll live happier & longer.

If she would have said break his arm instead of lynch him, would Reverend Sharpton have said anything. I do not think most people consider race when discussing anything until someone like him brings it up to provide himself a cause to champion. Its time to get over the past. My God, there is a Black guy in the hunt for president, on the supreme court, astronauts, top paid entertainers, former sec of state, on and on and on. Sure there is always going to be who let race or gender or any of hundreds of other traits shape their ideas. This is not inherently wrong or ignorant. Sometimes by golly if it walks like a duck and talks like a duck its a gol darn duck. If the people who rely on racism would quit looking for it where it is not, we would all be better off. All they do is feed the morons on both extremes and bore those of us who really do not give a crap if Tiger is black, blue or purple. All we know is he can hit the crappp out of a golf ball and to beat him, death may even things up, but he would still have to give a couple stroke to most folks.

No she should not Tiger's camp or Tiger himself could have squashed this right away but they did not. Basically whenever a African American of any kind is on the boob tube in any sport I say have all African American's announcing all events.\, just kidding Sharpton is an idiot no wonder most golfers are to the right when it comes to politics.

No, a lot of people look at how she said it then why she said it. The truth is usually no one can beat El Tigre. If someone else wins a tournament that Tiger is in, then he usually lost it. More people need to focus on the why than the how.
