can you play mass effect co-op in campaign mode on one system with two people?

at this point, there is no co-op or multiplayer. but there has been rumors of multiplayer and/or co-op being added as an update that you can buy for the game. I think they did that for the game Overlord, it shipped a single player game and now they have a multiplayer expansion you can buy over xbox live
I don't know the ETA on said expansion, but why else did they put the download content option in the extras part of the main menu?

There is no co-op in Mass Effect, or multiplayer for that matter. It is a one player RPG.
