URGENT: american income life-- should i take the job???
Does anyone know anything about being employed by American Income Life Insurance?? The job seems too good to be true and I've read a lot of complaints by employees online. I'm not sure what to think of what I've read.... Does anyone have any suggestions or experience with the company?? THANK YOU

I would just like to give you a fair warning. I started with this company a couple months ago. I was led to believe that they base their company off of honesty, integrity, and trust. I soon found this not to be true at all. The first red flag was when they ask you for $312 for a processing fee. what company do you know that charges you to work for them?they make you pay for your classes, gas, paperwork everything. alsoFor starters they tell you that you will be payed $500 a week for the first 6months, that is a lie, look at the bottom of that paper and see that asterisk? its says see manager for full details. When you ask your manager for the details, he will tell you, if you make 18 appt, a week then your PRETTY MUCH guaranteed 500 a week. However. When i went out in the field with almost no experience with their products (because they just shove you out the door not knowing what you are selling) i didnt make any money for 2 weeks. I asked my manager"if im making these 18 appts and keeping them and putting up my part of the deal, where is my guaranteed 500 atleast? to put it short, THERE IS NO GUARANTEE AT ALL. Just be prepared to not make very much money at all if anything.95% of their employees quit because it actually costs them so much money to work there. and on top of all that you are driving all over. They also say that their is no cold calling. This is also a lie. The "union leads" are not union members that are interested in life insurance, they were offered a free $2000 ad&d policy and most of the time that is all they want. You will get a stack of leads at first thinking you have tons of people to see, but dont be fooled, you will soon see that 90% of those leads are either wrong numbers, people not interested, cold calls, or they are 5 year old leads and they have no idea what you are talking about.and if you manage to book some appts you book an appt with them and do the old bait and switch and try to sell them insurance. What they do is try and confuse their clients into thinking you are with their union basically to gain credibility. What is also bad is you are selling a whole life policy under the code name "freedom of choice" and term life policies under the code name "monthly income" and those spouse riders they talk about, are actually also term policies. lets see here, the american income food bank set up for members in a time of need, I asked about that also. There is no food bank, its just any old food bank, again to mislead the customers into thinking this is a caring company. They also say that this company is a UNION company. haha this is funny. Ask your manager who the head of the union is, or ask if you can talk to the union representative. fyi they have no idea.
In the end I honestly want to really warn you. DO NOT accept their efforts to hire you. That company is very very smart in getting people to believe what they tell you. But once you have forked over the money and you are thousands of dollars in debt because you cant make any money its not worth it. And trust me, you do not want to work for a company that bases hiring off of honesty integrity and trust and from the very start all they do is lie and mislead you. Just use your best judgement and your gut feeling about this company. And remember the old saying, "If its too good to be true, it probably is"
please get back to me and let me know how it went. Be strong when you ask your manager those questions and dont back down.

HIGH POINT NC, I got a call today at work in a place of business from American Income. They were talking extra fast not knowing what she was really saying the only thing i heard was, would i be able to come to an interview with a resume and to make sure i came dressed professionally. Is this a job i should quit my real job for after all the bad things i am reading. I do no have time to be wasting money or even traveling miles and miles just to get a sale that may not even get to sale? Thanks

I'm confused about how so many people don't realize that this is a fully commission based job, I was told that day one on the phone. I have no issues paying for a course to pass a state required exam for certification, same thing when I got my real estate license. I figure if I don't take a chance in life and see what can be then I will never know. As far as being a "scam" I find it hard to believe they can be as horrible as these comments would make it sound as they have such a good rating and employee so many people in a publicly traded company.

My husband was an AIL employee and he was doing pretty well for quite some time. he started with the Fishers location, but we lived in Lafayette, IN. when they opened the new office in lafayette he was the only employee up there so you would think he would have first dibs on the accounts in lafayette due to seniority. nope! they sent him all over the state. we put more than 40,000 miles on his car in 3 months and they do no reimburse for gas. when his business declined due to forced sales to his trainees and being in very poor locations (kokomo, logansport) he was demoted and threatened. It's funny how just a month prior he was flown out to texas to hang out with the head honcho and dink Manhattans all day for being the top seller in his category then the next month he was being threatened to lose his job.
the hours are incredibly long. he would be gone from 7am to 11 at night or longer, most of which was drive time. the theory is that they don't want you to be close to home so during down time you wont go home and take a nap. rather, you should go door knocking in neighborhoods. pretty shady business as far as harassment. they pretty much teach people how to harass their customers for an appointment.
Don't even get me started on the tax filing issues. they told my husband all the wrong information about how to file his income. luckily, my mom is an accountant and had us do it right from the beginning and how to save for the taxes that you will have to pay at the end of the year because you are a 1099 employee.
If you have no life, commitments, and GREAT gas mileage I say go for it. there really is potential for growth, but I don't know many people that can handle it.

I was also offered a job and first looked into some blogs about this. I would recommend the official American income site: http://healthinsurancecheck.org/job-at-amerincomel...
Sadly, I have seen so much negative feedback, but I think most of the posts are from people who quit the job. Somebody who still works in this industry doesn't have time to make posts, in my opinion that is why only the negative stories are reported.
Take care

This is a scam outfit. I was cold called by an individual named "Dean" who would not divulge a last name, nor discuss any aspects of the positions (claims representative or team manager) they contacted me to interview for. I asked if he had any questions about my resume or work history, and he stated he was not allowed too call and to show up at their office at 10:15 for the job interview. When I showed up, it was certainly NOT a job interview for either of the roles they hooked me in for. It was a lobby full of other people they had sign in, fill out minor paperwork and then meet with a company recruiter who could not have been more than 19 years old. He never interviewed me about either role, he just gave me a sales pitch about their company and asked me how I liked my last job and how I would love their company so much more. Then told me that their mandatory work week is 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM Monday through Saturday with Sunday off. And that after I talked to him I would be going to a "seminar" next week to hear more about the company history and pay, benefits, and culture. He then asked if I could accommodate the hours, and I stated I take care of my father who is a disabled veteran on Saturday, and would not be able to make that day. His question, "Can't you do it on Sunday!?" At that point I thanked him for his time and left. There was never any job they wanted to interview me for. It was a cattle call to see who is desperate enough to attend the next steps.

I actually on the training to be an agent, I thought I should take a chance with this company and everything maybe I should because none of them employers were calling me except for AIL, they called me so I thought why not take that chance. I think what got me was they pay every week what I didn t get what it was a commission based so actually now I am having second thoughts because of all these negative comments I heard about them...
