Will chinese algae eaters eat glow fish?
My kids got a five gallon fish tank for christmas. I bought several tetras and 4 glow fish and i think i have two little shark fish. The glow fish were the last fish that I bought and since then two of the glowfish are missing. When the first one went missing I thought that the filter had sucked it up, because I saw some kind of white coocoon looking thing in the bottom of the tank, I guess it was the fish but the next day I looked and it was gone.
The next glowfish that went missing thre was never any sign of him at all he was just gone in the night.
My boyfriend said that they will eat anything thats dead at the bottom of the tank. Do you think this is true? I thought algae eaters were supposed to be vegetarians

All "algae eaters" are scavenger fish. They will eat anything dead, dying or decaying on the tank bottom. You will have more fish die and the chinese algae eaters will eat them, too. A five gallon fish tank is not nearly big enough for the number of fish you are keeping. You will need to monitor ammonia levels very closely and perform a 10% partial water change every other day to give your fish a chance to survive.

Upgrade to at least a 10 gallon tank and return the sharks. Otherwise, get at least a 55 if you want to keep the sharks. They SHOULD grow to about a foot, some species much longer. If you keep them in a tiny tank, you stunt their growth and kill them early. Its kind of like keeping a great dane in a travel crate for its entire life. Its not going to be happy or healthy.
As for your question, Chinese algae eaters will become aggressive when they are full grown and defend their territory, especially in such a tiny tank. He won't eat the fish alive, but he will begin to attack all the other fish in the tank as there isn't enough room for all the fish to set territories.

for 5 gallons it truly is way overstocked. There quite isn't a lot you could put in there. the in effortless words situation i'll indicate is a dwarf puffer, yet you should in effortless words placed one as they want 3 gallons per fish. I have a 100 twenty 5 gallon, a fifty 5 gallon and a 20 gallon. I save discus interior the large ones and dwarf puffers interior the 20.
