Some people have given you very good answers, but you just don't research for yourself, and ignore them. Who is the one who is afraid, I ask?

The premise of your question is false. You beg the question in the first part; that is you assert that the book Christians believe is false and inconsistent without proof, then wonder why someone would believe something that is false. In the second part you assert that all Christians refuse to consider modern scientific theories as correct. First, it is not the case that all Christians refuse to even consider the possibility that a modern scientific theory is true. Second, a theory is always subject to question and refinement, so declaring it "true" or "correct" is unscientific.
Finally, a good portion of the Bible was written after the Bronze Age, hence classifying the Bible as a "book of bronze age mythology" is inaccurate.
In summary, there is very little of substance to your question.

You mean the bible? The Bible have been tested in time and in it, scientific truths that, much later, after It had been written, had proven itself to be the true. Back then, the brightest people believed that the universe revolves around the earth. Back then people believed that atoms can't be splitted further. back then , medical institution believed that bleeding was a way to cure people. All of those were contrary to Biblical teaching. People who often say there are inconsistency just doesn't take time or effort to investigate their claims. Just because Christians who hold onto the Bible as the truth doesn't mean they are closed minded to science.
You are a logical man I presume? A man of science. There's a film or a book out there called "The Case for a Creator" its author was an atheist. I suggest you try to read it and sift out his claims whether they are true or not.

I'm a Christian, and yes, I am more than prepared to accept modern scientific theories that are subject to extremely rigorous testing to show that they are correct. Because they actually prove the bible correct.
Now my question to you - have you actually read any of it yourself?
Check out a few healthy eating articles. They're likely to tell you that eating fish is good for you. Lots of vitamins, and good trace elements. In Leviticus (which was written thousands of years before these modern scientific findings) it says the same thing. Seriously. Go check it out.
Leviticus, chapter 11. I can let the good book speak for itself.

That bronze age book has lasted longer than anything else- countless have died as martyrs in the name of the Bible. And faith isn't based on science- it's just a question of whether or not you have the capacity to believe. Why would you use science to prove something that isn't scientific?

How are they correct?scientist cant make up there mind on anything.Look at global warming for example one minute we are going into the cold age then now we are going to burn up and that's not all scientist never agree with each other they havent proved anything just a bunch of Theories You might want to get a dictionary turn some pages and see what a THEORIE is.

welp as far as i know there is no evidence that proves evolution the big bang theory or any other modern scientific theories either. either way you want to believe, it will require faith to stand by your decision. there will always be question that no one will be able to prove or answer in whatever theory, Christianity, religion you want to believe in. it takes a leap of faith. by the way i am a Christian. the Bible isn't just some book that is full of fictional stories, mythology, riddles, etc. or whatever you're saying. there are facts in the Bible that are TRUE, and are continuing to prove themselves to be true. there are also prophecies that have yet to be fulfilled, but are slowly coming to pass (passages in revelation, ezekial).

I am christian, and I am not 100% in agreement with the bible. (I think I just broke catholic law #27 right there :P) It has some good teachings, it's like a big book of aesops fables, morals and meanings of life and things to look forward to after life. I don't think rigorous testing will make anyone happy, but I do believe in modern thoeries and new age healing and other religions. Religion is a right, not a way of life as many hard-core catholics have engrained in their brains.

for one, you need to go talk to more Christians out there. most Christians ill tell you that the scientific and archaeological evidences that are being found, support the bible. in fact there has never been a case where archeology has proved the bible wrong.
we dot make our own science out of it, we just look at the science that is being done.
to me, the bible has no untruths, and the liberal world has worked very hard to put them there... but i see through the political lies and deceptions..... and you should take a closer look at what science is un raveling today.

Dear Finding-Nemosis,
I believe you meant to say, "Why are SOME christians . . . "
And why single out christians? What about Jews and Muslims? They believe many of the same things we do (especially the former). Talk about favoritism and inconsistency

Christians do accept scientific theories that have been rigorously tested and proven fact. Whoever told you that they didn't, lied to you.
